Default My newest creation- Maid service site with optimization.

I believe I have this optimized quite well! It is a new site, I did some work on placing about 20 directory links, and have the PR up to 2. Not too bad for some moderate effort for a new site. Please feel free to let me know if I can do anything better! Thanks so much.

Nicely done. The design and colors represent the subject matter very well.

All in all the colors work but I'm unsure of the yellow back ground I found it to be a bit to bright. But to be honest I do not know what I would change it to.

Their are a few things that you may want to consider.

1. Remove all the styles and put them in a .css file

2. Remove the java script and put it in a .js file

3. Make sure your sitemap meets the 0.9 protocol set by sitemaps.org. Right now I do not think it does as the urlset tag is empty.

4. I would add your sitemap to your robots.txt file

5. The link "site created by" I would have open in a NEW window.

6. I would remove the link to the "news board" since it is a Blog and not a discussion board. Also since it is on it own domain it could help you with IBLs

7. Your phone number is linked to #cleaning. A copy of your home page this can lead to duplicate content issues

8. Reading though your "Cleaning terms" I do not think you went into enough detail. You state "We're not "just" a bonded cleaning service, but have liability, crime and employee accident coverage". Okay up to what amount do you cover? Do you run a complete background check on all your employees if so can I request to see it? If I believe something is missing how is it handled? Will the same person clean my house or do they switch around? etc.

9. A BBB logo and testimonials would help build trust.

10. I did not see any company policies, privacy policies or a about us.

11. I think you need to add more content to your page maybe bring the cleaning tips over or something but it seems to not have enough real text.

Lastly why do you have 3 different domains for 1 company?
www.themaidsofnaples.com
www.maids.com
www.maidsofnaples.net

This puts alot of questions and fear in my mind. Who am I hiring? what company? are they all the same?
With no about us page, no address, no background info on how long you been around, not a member of the BBB combined with 3 different domains I would run the other way.

Note:
It has been awhile since I was in Naples Fl. But I believe there is a mix of cultures there. Do your employees speak English and Spanish?

Hi,

Thanks for the detailed reply and sorry it has taken me a while to get back with you. I have been swamped for a while! Very good suggestions, there were a couple things I was not sure of:

Re: 3. Make sure your sitemap meets the 0.9 protocol set by sitemaps.org. Right now I do not think it does as the urlset tag is empty.

Is there a place where I can do some reading on this? Or better yet, an online tool to generate the proper type of sitemap?

The maid service is a francise of a national company, the colors are th corporate colors, the one domain is the link to the national site. (maids.com). The other domain is just an extra one we had purchased, I set it up as a seperate site for page rank.

Hugs and kisses!
Nancy

Hi, I just realized I did not respond to all of your comments...

2. Remove the java script and put it in a .js file

I can do that? How?

3. Make sure your sitemap meets the 0.9 protocol set by sitemaps.org. Right now I do not think it does as the urlset tag is empty.

Where can I generate this?

4. I would add your sitemap to your robots.txt file

Ok.

5. The link "site created by" I would have open in a NEW window.

Good suggestion, I missed that!

They are a franchise of a larger company. They do background checks, but they are a fairly new franchise, and fairly new to the cleaning profession. So time in business for that particular franchise should not be listed. The national company has been around for two decades, however. (see The Maids Offers Premium House Cleaning & Maid Services).

9. A BBB logo and testimonials would help build trust.

I don't know if they are a member.

Copy and paste that code into windows notepad and save it as whatever-you-name-it.js. Make sure when you save the file you choose "Save as type" is set to "All files". Do not include the start and end script tag, for this is not needed, just the code itself.
Now in the head of your page you need to add a line like this
Code:
<SCRIPT src="path/to/javascript/whatever-you-name-it.js"></SCRIPT>
Now in the case you need to link to the script as in a bookmark script you link it like this.
Code:
<a href="javascript:addBookmark();">BookMark Us</a>
please note the 'addBookmark()' is a function in the javascript itself

Code:
var bookmarkurl="http://www.domain.com"
var bookmarktitle="Title of the bookmark"

function addBookmark(){
if (document.all)
window.external.AddFavorite(bookmarkurl,bookmarktitle)
}
^ actual code in .js file ^

read this first http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=40318

To make a sitemap you can use the one at http://www.auditmypc.com This a free service that I have used and know it works
Note this generator does use java script
