I would be most grateful for any feedback on the look, feel and functionality of my new site, DubaiDesk. There is still rather more meat than flesh when it comes to content but enough nevertheless to get some useful feedback.

I should mention that I am well aware of the fact that the site looks rather ugly on 800 x 600 screens. This is by choice - my experience with my other sites suggests that the number of users using such screens is far too low to warrant any design compromises.

There is an issue with opacity with the IE8 beta - if Microsoft does not fix it in due course I will just have to find a workaround.

After looking though your site I'm left with a unsureness of what the site is about, what is the purpose of the site and why is the site there. After scrolling down "endlessly" it comes clear that it is a ad-sense site. Maybe thats why you chose to put a ad right at the top before any content and the endlessly scrolling ad sense bar down the right side.
The content that was there was minimum as best and the navigation "the drop down" I found lacking and also felt no reason to have a drop down with the few links you had on it. Your navigation that is under the drop down was small and the color was hard to read on the light blue background. Then under that even smaller text.

If you want to really be a one stop source for info on Dubai then you should have a lot more content and history on Dubai.
If you want a ad-sense site then just keep it the way it is but to be honest I do not think you will make enough off the ad-sense to cover the cost of the site.

Weak.

Comic Sans font is all wrong for this type site.
The color scheme is boring.
The menu is difficult to use.
Keeping all the content constrained to a small space is a waste of screen real estate.

I did not see any adverts. Thanks to AdBlock Plus.

Thats look like a cheap / free template with a few minor customizations. I'd get some actual design, and add some more content pages with a navigation. If you want to make money off adsense your going to need a lot more content which users may find valuable, or to at least to draw them in to click on your ads.

You wouldn't think it was possible to make look Dubai cheap.

My first thoughts were "How much are Dubai Adsense clicks paying"?
