Thanks. :) (I'll try to review any of your websites too even if you don't review mine.)

Went in and looked at the site. Very nice opening page. Clean, uncluttered and pleasing. I did, however try to pass my cursor over each text area on the major part of the page. Wasn't until I got down in the fine print on the bottom did I find a link. Wasn't realy sure until the link for your mission opened did I see where all the links were. Not sure I really cared for hunting around lik that, but then again, not a really big deal. Also sending an email.

Ok. Thanks for the tip. :)

I just implemented that opener page several days ago to make it more clear what the site is all about.

I'll make the "Join Today!" link more clear that it is actually a link (as well as make it stand out)

Thanks. :)

A nice - pleasing to the eye - site.

Some of the black text over the picture in the
middle of your home page can not be read, because
of the pic behind it.

I figured out what your site is for, but it might be
good to just say it on the home page... or even your
header.

Quote:
We will never charge you, ever. This is a service
tailored to your needs, not ours.
We offer Free Subdomains, Unlimited
Albums, and many more features!
The above is Ok, but I don't think it communicates
what you're seeking to accomplish???
What's your vision of the world? - is good!!

Maybe having something like....
Share your photo visions free

Nice and clean layout, works in 800x600 and it's easy navigate.

I agree with vwebworld about the black text in the center. It's nigh on impossible to read. That's easy enough to remedy with an appropriate color.

I did think that there's plenty of room in the header to put a strap line to cover what the site is about and I like the logo too.

Looks good, keep it up ;)

Thanks for the comments. :)

That new main page is kind of discombobilated at the moment because I ran out of time last night and had to go to sleep. I'll work on that ASAP!

Thanks! ^_^

I do not like the way the picture stays still and the black text is hard to read on the black shirt.

I could not figure out what the site was about on the home page and as a rule of thumb you have less then 5 seconds to make me want to stay.

I looked threw the site a little more the colors look good but the text was written in away that made me not want to stay and read it.

I never figured out what the site was about.

Sorry, but it is a nice clean looking site.

Hi Janeth. :)

I'm interested to know, is the text on the home page (where there is no vision...emerson) centering itself for some reason? I have it as a div in a td that is 50% of the picture width and it should be aligning itself in a lower corner where it can be clearly seen, but I'll get on that so older // other browsers can see it as well.

Did you happen to look at the title bar or read.. ok, did you read anything on the site? =)

I want to work on this and I highly value your opinions and thank you for giving them to me. ^_^

Thanks, again.

Are those questions that you want personally answered or think should be answered on the site? :)

I'll answer em here anyways.

I have been to Peru (in South America) and South Africa (in Africa, go figger). In both places, I experienced much more then is the norm for any 16 year old living a sheltered American life.. To be honest, it shook me. A lot...

Going to South Africa is honestly the reason why I started Visions of the World. I had just come back and was still in withdrawl from leaving all of the people I left there when I moved from New York and left behind all of my lifelong friends there as well.

Give a boy used to having a computer a notebook and things are bound to happen. :)

Lol, I may have gone too personal for your liking, but now you know.

(I'm planning on adding a forum very soon, the only problem is developing it and coding it... I don't want to use any outside programming.)

Well. There's your answer, I think. :)

Default Hello

For now try to focus more on the message your trying to pass on rather than joining the community. <meta content="2 days" name="revisit" /> <-- kill it. The meta tag is pretty much useless. It is ignored if it's under 15 days or so and even if it's not it's telling the bot to come back in that amount of days if it comes early. I don't care too much for the dull colors combination for navigation but that's just my opinion. I suggest checking out the book "poison wood bible, the". Overall it's a pretty good site.

Howdy!

Thanks so much for the comments.

Currently, I am racking my brain to come up with a new UI that is more visually pleasing because the green is beginning to wear on me as well, but every time I put one out and ask people they say they like the green more.

Go figger'

And thanks for the meta tag comment, its fixed now. :D

Wow, looks really nice. I'm new to the web-review thing, so that's probably not a lot of help.

The source of the quote on your mission page is Proverbs 29:18. You may have your own reasons for attributing it to Emerson, but it is not original to him.

Hello Dawson

Well I read your response and am still no further forward...

what exactly is the point of your website???

You went to third world countries... I think I got that... You took photos... and then what?

... you went to third world countries without a computer you obviously had a camera and took pictures of how it is out there... and you sell/offer albums (is that singing or photos?) and your vision is to what??

Sorry Dawson, but having been to third world countries myself, I think I could have come up with more than:- I went there without my computer, Go figure!!!
Your dream is coming nearer to reality??? What exactly was your dream? you thought Hey I'll take some pictures of corrugated houses in Africa/Peru.....Lost here! and send them to people?..
Your site is not easy to understand... It is also uninformative and I can't help but feel that in the not too distant future it may well start to exploit!!
(Did you have permission from these people you photographed to publicies their pictures????)

"So, you have just returned home from the mission field, or are on the mission field? Now, you just got all those rolls of film developed, potentially on a cd as well so you can email all of your pictures to you friends. Oh no! They each size around 200k each? If you use hotmail, that means your account would be overloaded with only eight pictures. Not to mention you will only be able to send out two or three each time. Well, that takes out emailing them unless you can figure out how to shrink them down using a program like Adobe Photoshop, but you say you don't have $700 to spend on it? Well that is too bad. How about you use an online photo album such as ofoto? Yes, that would work! Then, once you get your url for one of your albums, you can email it to all of your friends. Hey, looks, it’s... "http://www.ofoto.com/I.jsp?m=96162447103&n=1976079074" well that is very appealing. Oh no! Your friend lost the url? Better email it to them again, seeing as there is no possible way for you or them to remember it... See what I am getting at? You need a simple and easy way to share with the world your pictures and thoughts. How about a url like "dawson.votw.net"? Wouldn't that be slightly simpler then "http://www.ofoto.com/I.jsp?m=96162447103&n=1976079074"? I don't know about you, but I find it much easier to memorize 15 characters then 60 that follow no logical path. But that is just me. My goal is to ultimately provide you with a complete resource to share with your friends your stories, experiences, and pictures with all of your friends and with the world. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then I want this website to be bursting at the seems with literature. This is just my dream, now I leave it to all of you to become a reality." - Dawson Toth

(taken from http://votw.net/mission.php)

I guess I'm not communicating that well enough. :(

I changed the title, does that work better?

I'm working on designing / adding a forum system to let people share experiences past pictures and what not, so that is why I am not limiting it to just pictures.

And do you think President Bush, or Britney Spears, or any celebrity, give express permission to everyone that takes their photo? The pictures I took were all of people of whom I asked if they wanted their picture taken, none of them rejected.

I think the concept is pretty simple. VotW is a way for ya to share your pictures 'with the world' or just with your friends.

And how exactly do you think that in the 'not too distant future it may well start to exploit'? Exploit what? Who?

And how exactly did you find me communicating 'I went there without my computer, Go figure!!!!'?..

I wanna get this perfect, so I highly value your opinions. :)

I have a writing forum. People don't care to read long writings -ever. They don't like reading. I didn't read yours. It was long. I didn't want to read it. Webmaster redundancy. Say it. If they care to know more, add a more info button.

Putting important topics into lines of their own is important. Throw out the main information with no promotional language, history, or bias in a succinct no more than or 5 sentence paragraph.

The sites' main purpose should be thrown out in the first.

Ok. :)

Care to throw some smilies in there? It tends to lighten up the mood and make it more pleasing to read. ;)

I'll work on that. (right now)

Ok. Is that better?

And do you think I should choose some other, 'lighter' images that are more happy because I made the message communicated lighter?

Thanks SO much for taking your time to reviewing my pitiful little website, though. I'm really pleased with it, much more so then before! =D

Ya'll rock my sox. ^_^

Now that you've made some changes I thought it was time to revisit your site ;)

The images you've chosen to feature are a bit on the "real" side, maybe you should mix them up with more light hearted photos to show a variety.

The new colour dominates the site so I think (my absolute personal opinion) you should get a bit of contrast in there, maybe on the menu titles? :)

Pitiful?? It's not pitiful, trust me on this lol ;)

Lol, Ok. The main reason I had almost everything be green is because I can't think of any colors that would go well with it aside from other shades of green and that I wanted the focus to be on the pictures.

I'll get some 'lighter' photos in that slide show. :)

(Color, too)
