Purpose is easy to understand.

Lots of empty whitespace (which I presume are adverts that AdBlock Plus is hding from me).

Going through the directory I picked out quite a few that have no discounts currently available. Your users will get frustrated and will not return.

Thank you for the comments so far, regarding "no discounts currently available" what do you suggest i do as discounts are not availbale for all shops at the same time.

It's a dot com with prices in '£'. You need to make it very clear what geographical area you are serving.

A site that states: but with entry after entry marked "No discounts currently available"?? Isn't that a bit like Google with no search results?

There's nothing other than the shopping bag that grabs my attention and easily identifies the site. I look at the homepage and my first impression is "what is it you do"? Hit me in the face with a big "discount hypermarket" tell me why I should stay and look around - make me feel that I would be silly not to. Give me some inducement.
