Default Site Review

Hey guys I am very new here and wanted to know if i could get people to take a look at my site http://www.dallasnovelty.com and tell me what I am doing wrong or right. I have been working on this particular site for about a year and slowly making it better and starting to show on google more now. TIA

I click on DallasNovelty.com and wind up at maco1.com ?
Not copyright by Dallas Novelty, but by eWorld.
You are making me nervous.

Looks sleezy.

Title tag is way too long.

sorry about that i thought i had that fixed about the eworld copyright. i'm checking that right now again.

i'm trying to get my domain switched over so everything says dallasnovelty.com instead of maco1.com. Dallas Novelty is a company in our umbrella of companies with Maco Inc.

Any other things you notice right off the bat? i guarantee there is no any evil things going on in my site just trying to make a buck on the side.

I have been using Arelis and IBP to try and get my site seen more on the search engines. I also use PowerMapper 4.0 to make the sitemaps.

Thanks

I redid a bunch of things on the page and made every item have the name instead of a product number. Please let me know if you guys see anything else I need to change. I am also using tips from the SEO guys on here to get my site listed more. Thanksin advance.

Very out of date looking.

Could use a little design "viagra".

The word viagra was not meant literally. To put it literally. The design looks old and tired and could use an uplift(pardon th pun).

i know what you were saying i'm just not sure how to make the design more updated. do i need to put links across the top?? dropdown menu categories at the top. the ecommerce software im using paypal shop maker 3.0 just makes a pretty basic(i guess tired & old) design that I have been trying to change to look better. I just didnt have the money to go spend $2k-15k for a totally awesome up to date design so I am trying to learn as i go. I have never really messed with css or java till now and there is definitely a steep learning curve. i have been writing html for about 13 years and compared to whats out now im a dinosaur.

Your biggest problem is that the elements of the page are not well defined. After reading that you might be asking me what I mean. For instance, the logo exists, but its dificult to determine where the logo ends and the rest of the site begins (no boundary). The same is true for your left hand categories, as a matter of fact your category under 'Books Condoms Etc' physically invades the the blue text of 'we will meet or beat any price'

The 'search' is a little bit misplaced as well, it centered underneath your logo.

Overall its a very busy site....

Wooooooooooooah thats a lot of nested tables! Time to break out some pure CSS design if you want the real search engine love, and an easier to maintain website. Cheers.

I think you have gotten very good input from everyone and I have to agree with them %100. cw1865 also points out many things that caught my eye right off the bat and viewing it with Firefox made some of them really stand out.

I understand the cost of having a site made for you and with that in mind I would have to point you maybe in a different direction or at least give you something to think about. If you did not want to drop the cash then I would recommend just putting together a 'Cart Site'. There are many out there that are inexpensive and will save you time. The one I personally like is squirrel cart for it is easy to set up and you can also integrate it into a existing site but there are many other good ones out there that do not require very much programming knowledge. If you do not want to go that way and wish to create your own then may I suggest you take a look at this site to get some Idea of what a simple layout and some css can do. Although they use asp to create the site, their isn't anything there that you could not do with straight html and css if you had to then comeback and add a database later. I'm sure you have seen that site before since you sell their products. I just wanted to point out that a updated design does not have to be a real programming nightmare. keeping it simple and fresh also works. I would add a breadcrumb trail and a site search though to that site.....

Just food for thought.

FYI
Google adheres to Sitemap Protocol 0.9 as dictated by sitemaps.org
Your sitemap does not meet this as it does not have
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9">

You also have the domain of http://maco1.com this should be dallasnovelty.com and the <changefreq>hourly</changefreq> I do not think you change your products hourly but I maybe wrong.
