Tested in IE6 56k modem 800x600. Loads nice and fast. Slightly too wide for 800x600. Otherwsie, a very nice design. Good luck with it.

Default website critique

This website loaded in 1 second! (timed)

This is a well-crafted website with easy and fast navigation.

Concerns:

Color and design are bland, but that is a matter of taste. I am one of those who is attracted to brighter colors. It may not matter, since visitors are interested in cameras, not artwork.

The pages are too wide for my monitor and require me to scroll horizontally. This is not considered good web design, and monitors should be set at 800x600 when building websites.

I'll elaborate a little more on this. Take me, for example. I have a 17" monitor at this computer. When I am surfing or searching the web, I usually have another screen or two loaded also, and I want to be able to see the edges of the ones running in the background, so I can quickly click on them to access them, if needed. I seldom expand web pages to fill the entire monitor screen.

With those websites that are created for wide-screen monitors, I am forced to scroll horizontally.

Suggestion for enhancement:

When I shop for cameras, I want to see reviews, also. That means I either have to find them on your site, or go elsewhere to get the information. If I go elsewhere, I might not make it back to your site. You (or your client, whatever the case may be) might consider adding reviews of at least some of the cameras you offer for sale. You might even offer your customers the opportunity to send in comments about the cameras they purchased.

Having just recently purchased an extremely good digital camera, I'm sure my comments about it might be a helpful selling point to others who are considering the purchase of that type of camera.

Of course, I understand that there may be other commercial considerations for not including reviews on your site.....just an idea that came to mind as I was reviewing your site.

The problem with having lovely curves is that they don't react well to being stretched.

I would split the image into three parts, with left and right being fixed and the center set at 100% with a tiling background image.

But on the other hand it might be easier to reduce the overall width of the page.

Looks good otherwise ;)

My suggestion would be to allow it to size to the window. Meaning, have a table, then say, 15% blank space, 200 pixels of the left size, don't say how wide you want the middle to be (it'll take up whats left), 200 pixels of the right size, then another 15% blank. If you need any help 'slicin n dicin' those images drop me an email. :)
