Default www.interceptweb.com

hey there ladies and gentlemen.

I just completed my new website and uploaded it to my host about a week ago but I'm still having problems with the contact form (I'm at a loss as to what the problem is)

but I will get it fixed as soon as I figure out what the problem is (another reason I'm asking for a review here)

Please take a look at the site and share with me your thoughts on the layout and navigation and above else the contact form.

again the address is www.interceptweb.com

Hello
looks good for a basic website- but you are telling the world they should hire you to design website for them - why dont you add a little flash and background etc. it would make it stand out. it looks a little too bland right now- (my opinion - Sorry)
also you have your services listed and explained in a long scrolling page-- I would in your place put the headings on one page and link it to individual pages with explanation of each item of service.
All the best with your website.

Default website critique

I enjoyed viewing your site and I hope to come back again when I have more time. Your "tips" were very interesting....good idea to add that to your site.

I did notice a couple of things that I think could be improved upon. 1) It is a good idea to add navigational links at the bottom of a page, too, so that your visitors will not have to scroll back up to go to another page (especially a long page). 2) You have used quite an assortment of fonts on your site. From everything I have read on website design, you should use a maximum of two. I think I would settle on one for the headings, and either Times New Roman, Arial or Verdana for the body text. I do like the blue headings that you have used with a decorative script as they make your sections stand out. I'd just limit the number of fonts you are using.

Best wishes for your on-line business.

Hey thanks for the feedback smakyyy.

why dont you add a little flash and background etc. it would make it stand out.

Well the reason I didn't add any Flash or Animation is for the fact not everyone has a high speed connection and plus there are still people out there that run older computers that just couldn't handle the graphix and plus in some businesses people are behind firewalls that block images. (I used to be one of those people)

you have your services listed and explained in a long scrolling page-- I would in your place put the headings on one page and link it to individual pages with explanation of each item of service.

I already have that here http://www.interceptweb.com/services.htm
and all the viewer has to do is click on a service and they go to the description of that service.

All the best with your website.

Thank you I will need it :)

Your "tips" were very interesting....good idea to add that to your site.

Thank you very much, I try to help out others as much as I can.

1) It is a good idea to add navigational links at the bottom of a page, too, so that your visitors will not have to scroll back up to go to another page (especially a long page).

I have added them but had to remove them for a short time due to a code error that is now fixed. The links should be back either today or tomorrow. (Good eyes to catch that). :)

2) You have used quite an assortment of fonts on your site. From everything I have read on website design, you should use a maximum of two.

Again you are correct I did use an assortment of fonts on the site and the reason for that is I'm trying to decide what font type to use and what one looks best on the site. I should have a choice soon.

Best wishes for your on-line business.

Thank you, I will need it.

Fist let me say that you have a great start. Now let's talk about a couple things that can make it just that much more attractive and functional.

1) While the header and content window are very graphically appealing, the navigation really kills the look. You go from high-techy to run of the mill. Take the time to add the appropriate clean graphics to the links that you have in the header. And as another mentioned, put text links at the bottom of your pages. This not only helps with viewer navigation, but enables bots and spiders to more easily search your site.

And since we are talking about graphics, I now it takes some time, but I don't recommend using the Image Ready coding that the application spits out when slicing an image or creating mouse-over effects. One it is very bulky and can be much cleaner code if you do it yourself, and it does tend to have issues with FrontPage since that is what you are using.

2) All font tags are being phased out to make way for style sheets. I would recommend taking the time now, while the site is new to create your style sheet and replace all your font tags. This will also reduce a large amount of your excess code in your pages.

3) On the pricing page, your "Back to Top" links take me right to the top of the main paragraph. If you set you #top anchor within the header code, you will bring your viewer all the way back up the page. It makes for a much clean function, and with it the way it is, I don't have access to the home or services links in your side navigation.

4) You need to review your text alignment. The first paragraph on the home page is centered while the rest seems to be right justified. Services page is centered, Products is right justified and so on. Basic rule of thumb, left justify everything unless you are making a design statement (which your content isn't) or emphasizing a point. Which I don't see any of your content really doing that.

5) The FAQ's page really should just be one page. Do it the same way you did the pricing page. Put the FAQ's links at the top and anchor them to the answers. Just keep it on one page. I would also suggest this with the Products and pricing pages. You have a lot of redundant linking that is not necessary. You could set a table with three columns at the top of your pricing page and drop all the product links into it.

6) On your contact page, I would remove the selection boxes like the "How can we Help" one, and go for the simple drop menu. I can honestly say I have never seen them like that and you are going to confuse a lot of people with them. And your form is set-up with FrontPage components. If you do not have FrontPage extensions set-up on your server, you will never get it to work. It is also an ASP code, so if you are not on a Windows Based server you will have more problems.

7) You offer "The power of Web Design..." on every page yet you list nothing in services for web design. You cover very basic info on the home page (and I really hesitate in saying that) and that is the last I see anything except about computer work. If you offer a service you need to provide a reason for people to purchase that service, and I just don't find it in your site. No information about your abilities what so ever.

8) You also have no keyword or description tags. The title tags could be used in a much more productive way as well.

You have a great start, but it could use some polishing before you go to far with marketing your site. This is a great place to bring your site. You will get a lot of good constructive ideas here. I would check out the Search Engine forums to get some ideas on using meta tags and keyword rich content.

Best of luck.
