| Submit Your Site For Review Need a fresh set of eyeballs to take a look at your site? Have a specific issue or question about some aspect of your layout, design or interface? This is the forum for you. When submitting your site, be sure to discuss what aspect you are looking for input on. Just posting a link with the word 'review' isn't appropriate. |

We already are aware of the problem with the navbar flickering when a user hovers over it. We are working on a fix but we are also open to suggestions on the issue.
site - ZigZap - Cincinnati Computer Technology Services forums - ZigZap Tech Forums We just did a redesign of the site for the new year and the forums got a makeover in December. If anyone has anything they can offer to help us improve the site I would VERY much appreciate it. |

"Under Construction" is very frustrating. Would cause me to leave if I weren't reviewing this site.

Yeah its frustrating trying to find time to complete the sections we have listed. The dilemma is that our line of work keeps us out on jobsites and leaves very little free time to work on our own site. Still excuses or not its about time we just made time and completed it so it looks more professional.

Not being able to manage your workload is a reflection to your clients on your capabilities. Less pages if you can't manage the full load. Don't post stuff you can't complete.
You want to be considered a professional then the work needs to be done to get there, or you need to hire someone to complete it. Such as a writer.

It's generic grade Web 2.0 -- gloss heavy and copy shy. There is no business proposition, and the site is a full step below brochureware, an extended open for business sign.
Only problem for the Web 2.0 look: Replace the under construction with a big "Beta" badge. There is no purpose for the site. There is no concentration on a target user and there is no reason put forth to do business with your company, not competitors. There are no testimonials, case histories, you talk about no customer benefits or even features for that matter. I don't see a problem with the under construction graphics, as nothing compels the user to dig any deeper than the top page. There's no reason to have the site other than "everyone else is doing it." |

Wow!
Thank you for the feedback, nothing has been nearly this constructive. You are right that its a poor reflection on us as a company and I will work out those sections tomorrow. The forums need to be fixed both in changing the header and keywords to reflect us a local Cincinnati business. I do not have a timeline for those changes but I hope to complete them by the end of the month. dcrux: I cannot think of a negative aspect to designing within the web 2.0 look. I do agree with your statement that the website is completely useless. It is supposed to be informative but we haven't provided anything informative yet. I have work to do! Thank you for the encouraging feedback, I welcome anything else you have to add. |

If you're going to work with the big graphics, you should think about a more dimensional layout.
I've been saying this for years now. if you insist on scrolling for content. You should never have the menu and logo scroll out of vision or reach. Value your brand and maintain it throughout your entire presentation. Another peeve of mine propegated in this thread is the reference to the term web 2.0 as an evolution of design or style. Web 2.0 was coined to describe the next generation of the internet as a social, user generated and interactive animal.

To offer download the card is neat trick, but why you not including phone and fax numbers on it. I agree with the rest about "Under construction." Just remove the links for the time. What is your qualification? Are you hardware or software engineer? People deserve to know. Are you working solo or have you partners / hired labour? Computer people have access to data of the client, so it is important to state references.
The web is nice. |
