Default Second opinion required - dpg.rmacd.com

Hi,

I'm working on a site at the moment for a couple of days, been doing a fair 'upgrade'!

I would really like someone else's opinion on the site. This is a testing URI, with the new site on it.

Dilston Physic Garden, Northumberland

Essentially, The colours look fine. But I'm looking for opinions on layout and spacing if that would be OK.

The only page that exists is the front page at the moment.

With thanks,
Kind regards,
Ronald.

photos in the header - seem to cover your header text. the green looks a bit harsh to me, could you soften it with some shading.

Hi Tubby,

Thanks for the prompt response.

Yes, at low resolutions, the images do actually cover the title. It could have been sorted out by the z-index, but I've decided against images on the top bar altogether. It's a bit corny.

Additionally, I'm intrigued by the 'harshness' of the green - I can see what you mean. By 'shading' the green, I presume you mean to darken it a bit? Or to apply a semi transparent gradient?

Say, even, the green colour across the tops of the titles in this forum? Yet, this is a bit dull - doesn't really do too much to 'sell' the page.

Ronald.

I would try and maybe fade the green to to obscure the line between he header and the text. Of course after I tried it I might not like it. It sort of gives you options of some extra green text in the lower area, and take away the Blocky look of the text panel. . gardens never change colours instantly they almost always seen to leach into each other.

for my eye the green looks a hard instant contrast (blocky)

I liked the pictures - not the way they were, but I liked . . . They gave me the 'This is a garden' message.

Right,

Well, I've done what Tubby has suggested. I've toned down the greens, and in doing so have also worked a fair bit at the layout.

I'm currently having some problems with css not rendering correctly in some browsers, but if anyone would be able to shed light on the site in general, that would be useful. What would you do differently?

Thanks,
Ronald.

I would add more words to the title tag (Google will display the first 66 characters).
Your homepage (and every other page) needs to have a description tag (Google will examine the entire tag and display the first 150 characters).
I would increase the leading in the body text.
