Default Redesign of www.BIZMOX-Systems.com

Well I did it. I started a whole new redesign. I was too inspired by the fancy sites I have been seeing in this forum. There is no logo at the top yet since I have not been able to create a good one yet.
Also, most of the text is just filler right now.

http://www.bizmoxsystems.com

The links on the left and right do not work yet.(Except the links to WebProWorld and Flash Kit).
The poll does not work yet.

The menu at the top does. I am looking for a few design critiques. Color, layout, appeal, ease of use, etc...

I also need some help with the javascript for the technical menu on the left. I am trying to figure out how to have the menu start in a collapsed condition. If anyone has any ideas, thanks.

Had a quick visit to your new site.

Initial Impression: I really liked the way you've used the whole screen and the overall organization is pleasant to the eyes.

Navigation: Based on what is working navigation is easy to follow and pages loaded very smoothly.

Color: Colors are subjective. I personally do not much care for the pastel color approach to web-design and I don't think the colors work too well together, they kind of "grate". The colors on this site are nothing to scream about either, but at least they do not distract the eyes from what the user is trying to do - other than that ebay logo that's screaming for attention to the right of my screen.

Overall: Based on what is there, and other than the colors, I like it. On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 6 or 7 at the very least. The strongest point it has going for it at the moment is the site's organization, I like well structured sites and you are definitely on the right track with that.

Will look forward to seeing the final product. Best of Luck with it.

Your site could benefit greatly by using a vector program like Corel draw or Illustrator for your buttons. This would "offset" the lettering sizes, colors and font styles to give an overall more interesting look than that of your default web building app. I do however feel that your site has a more journalist(ic?) or novelist feel to it and it might be a direction to exploit a little further.

I am curious as to what you mean by default web building app. I use no applications. I have always hand coded all my sites using a programmers editor(EMACS style). Everything on that page was hand coded by myself.

Which buttons are you referring to? There are really only the images that I use for the technical menu on the left. Oh and the buttons on the poll, but those are standard form radios and submits.
The font styles and colors can be changed quite easily. As for the rest, there are links, but no buttons. Would you explain more specific for me?

Thank you

Buttons: I did not see buttons, so I can't really comment on those. The links are obvious enough without them, and given your design approach I cannot really see the need for any (buttons).

Font: The font is fine. Would have been my choice to. If you want to experiment further, Verdana, which is slightly more "boxy" maybe a good option and will go well with the overall theme.

Colors: The lavender blue is fine. Personally I find it a little weak, but that is just a personal preference. What you may wish to look at further is the choice of border colors. It's almost orange up at the top and golden yellow everywhere else. They don't seem too well with this particular shade of blue and this is a little distracting. You might want to play around with this and find other colors closer to your chosen blue on the color spectrum. The orange is especially contrasty and draws too much attention to itself.

The site is different and perhaps novel in its presentation. I think it does work and will be even better with a little refinement. The font colors do work well and makes reading easy and comfortable.
