Based on some of the excellent advice I got here, I've drastically overhauled my site. Please have a look and see if there has been any improvements.

Thanks :)

i've never seen the other version, but this one is not bad. a very clean design that on first glance seems to lend itself well to the search engines...

gotta get some sleep, but i'll try to add some more detailed thoughts later this week...

Default website critique

A very nice website...fast loading graphics, and color scheme appropriate for website.

Concerns: I got booted out! Not a very nice way to treat visitors. When I clicked on the roundhouse link I got a members only log-in. When I couldn't log in, I got kicked out of the site. You might want to fix that, if possible.

I didn't find much "newbie" information at your site. Assume that you will have visitors that must may be interested in train sims, if they could find out more about this subject. Many of us had model railroads at some point in our lives, but had to give up the hobby for lack of space. Try to include some helpful information for those who aren't really sure about this topic. I once purchased Railroad Tycoon, only to find out it wasn't what I had expected, at all.

I will be sending you a private e-mail, as your site needed some editing. Be careful about your spelling, editing, etc., as it tends to destroy your credibility if you have even a single mistake!

Best wishes on your site.

Thank you, I did a lot to rationalise the color scheme after the first version of the site and taking in a lot of the useful advice that I received here on this forum. Optimising the graphics was the tough part and it came down to optimum speed over big image files. Train simming is very visual, so the site needed a lot of images. What it came down to was making hard editorial choices, making the decision to reduce the size of the images and pushing the compression ratios to the limit.

Looks like there needs to be a "front door" page to this section. Thanks for pointing this out.

Excellent suggestion. It was something I've contemplating for awhile, but this gives me a good incentive to take the subject further.

Whoops - I use AceHTML 5.0 as my primary web page editor. Love it to pieces, but the spell check does not work for some strange reason on my platform - thanks for catching some of them. I really appreciate you taking the time.

Nicely laid out site if a bit on the gray side. The only thing that puzzles me is that it's primarily a site about train sims but says little about how gryphonmediadesign relates to the subject.

Maybe you should clarify this a bit better on the homepage.

I agree with Najoba about getting kicked out of the members area, it's not exactly friendly.

Other than that it gets a thumbs up from me.

ok, you got the members only landing page. one thing you might think of here are some bullet points (3 or 4 maybe) of the benefits of becoming a member. you do have that it's free in the text, but some bullet points might make it easier to glance at and get the benefits. just a thought.

personally, i'd go for a text based navigation, but that's just me. :)

overall, great job. i couldn't find much else 'wrong' with it.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to review my site. I've incorporated a lot of changes that you have suggested.

With that out of the way, I will be moving forward with building more content and traffic for the site.

Thanks all once again. You have all been most kind.
