Re: Video Game Website
I agree with Dave - I am sitting on a T1 line and it was nearly a minute before I had anything but a white screen, and to be honest with you, the site doesn't seem so complex that it should take that long to load. You either have some horrid optimization on graphics/scripts or an exceptionally slow server connection that needs to be remedied straight away. Going from the home page to the game play page was another nearly 30 second wait. I understand and realize that broadband speeds can now trump a T1 speed if they are running good and the local users grid is not overloaded - but it still is highly sluggish compared to Blizzard's sites (WoW, Diablo etc) and other gaming sites.
I am using a 2.7gzh, 1gb ram dell latitude laptop, but honestly that has nothing to do with load time in the sense that abover average gamer systems will be used - unless you are loading some sort of application that uses the local processing and such of the end user system.
Overall, I like the layout/design, is typical of a gaming site, but if it fits the game and portrays the game well, then it is probably doing its job.
You do have quite a bit of javascript, not only included but inline, but I rather expected that given the type of site it is.
