I created Country IP Blocks dot Net to meet a need expressed by several of my commercial clients. They wanted access to IP Addresses/Networks by country so they could use the associated data for better tracking of site visitors, and to create Cisco ACL, .htaccess, hosts.deny, hosts.allow and other files.

Currently the database contains a complete listing of IP Addresses & Network ranges for 239 countries around the world.

The database is searchable by IP Address and will produce the Network, CIDR and Netmask for the network where the IP Address belongs and the country to which it is assigned.

You can also get complete Country IP Network Range data in CIDR or Netmask format or create on the fly .htaccess files for blocking specific countries.

I have designed the site for simplicity and easy access to the data. I will be adding a variety of network/subnetting calculators as soon as I finish writing the code. The site will additional content related to mod_rewrites, .htaccess lists, networking and additional security related data.

Incidentally, if you look at the site and think it needs additional data or would like to see the network/cidr/netmask info formatted in additional ways I would be grateful for your input.

If you think I should add additional content, such as technical explanations of CIDR, subnetting, network setups, calculations, how to setup .htaccess lists, hosts.deny/hosts.allow or anything else that would benefit you I would be grateful for your input.

Should the site have a message board for discussions and tips or should I add various contact forms and deal with the questions on the FAQ page?

Should I display up to the minute BOGON networks for additional security blocking? What can I do to make the more valuable and accessible to you?

Do you find the network data sorted by countries in continguous IP blocks a valuable resource?

Any responses will be appreciated...and who knows, down the line, I just might throw in some free webmaster tools, tips or scripts for those who provide me with feedback.

Not being of the technical sort, I can't provide much help...but as you're not getting any response here so far, it's better than nothing and may get some dialog going?

Your site seems to provide a good service, but I'm not sure whether adding a forum is a good use of your time here? I can't imagine there needing to be a lot of discussion?

As far as constructive criticism, I'm wondering why you'd limit returns on the US query to 7,500...wouldn't a user expect and need the full data?

Your homepage description meta tag has a word spelled incorrectly.

The gray on white text I see in various content is difficult to read.

I haven't decided about adding a forum. In the near future the site will include considerable networking a security related content. The articles and topics may create an atmosphere for discussion to those who are interesting in networks, subnetting, supernetting, firewall rulesets and updates on the current security issues of the day.

The limit on the U.S.A. data is only temporary. There are over 38,000 public networks available in the United States. These include nearly 1.5 million public subnets. Due to the volume of data I am trying to decide on a better delivery method when the available data exceeds a certain volume.

I agree with your gray on white text assessment.

No it's not down. It looks like you got snagged by one of the security script that prevents autumated scripts from connecting to the site or one that prevents a visitor from copying the entire database.

It's no big deal. You should be able to access it again now.
