First of all, you're breaking adsense guidelines since I counted four separate Google ad blocks on your home page. (The rule is 3)

I would for sure take the Google Ad out of your header. It might be a better idea to put your site name in the header and put a banner ad at the top of your site.

I was also quite surprised to see no author name and no list of resources on a site full of medical articles.

For SEO purposes, you are much better off to use text for text-based information, such as that in your tables than using graphics. Moreover, those who use screen readers and those who otherwise have images disabled are not able to access your graphical tables.

Your design is unimpressive. There are just too many boxes for my taste. You might try better use of white space in line-height, margins, and padding to make reading easier. You should also be using more headings (h1, h2 etc) and lists (either bulleted or numbered) to make your content easier to read and more appealing to the eye.

Content wise, if you're writing for medical colleagues, I imagine your content is quite readable. For the lay person it's very difficult to follow and understand.

From a code perspective, it's quite well done. Very clean, very tidy.

Remove the the following meta tag. It's completely redundant since robots will follow the links and spider the content anyway:
Code:
<meta http-equiv="robots" content="index,follow">
Clean up your page titles. You've duplicated them on a few pages and they're a little on the long-winded side. Try to keep them under 65 characters. Try to keep them more focused on the page content and not the general site topic or site name.

It's a little hard to discern the purpose of the site. Is the site informational or purely made for AdSense?

The primary navigation doesn't stand out enough. I'm not sure where to go once I've read the home page, and I didn't. (There's way too much to read). I was looking for categories, sections and subsections but didn't easily find any.

Where's the call to action? Why should I be there? What should I do when I get there. In simply trying to figure it all out, I've experienced the following symptoms:
  • Headaches, especially pulsating headaches behind the eyes that occur early in the morning
  • Visual disturbances
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Chest pain (angina)
  • Eye damage (retinopathy)
  • Abnormal heartbeat

Too much red text! I see it's clickable and that's great but there's so much of it that, that the "more.." links don't stand out in the page content and it becomes confusing. Where do I go, what do I do?

Consider breaking up the content into more manageable chunks and spread it across multiple pages. It'll be easier for users to read and to find information using your handy search box.

In the top navigation bar, on the same line as "Health", the empty text box and green bar to the right of it both seem to be clickable in FireFox. Might wanna look at that...

Code:
<div class='hiddenFields'>
<input type="hidden" name="ACT" value="19" />
<input type="hidden" name="XID" value="f1043255b476dc43ee7ef9ef06078e65bf7478f6" />
<input type="hidden" name="RP" value="search/results" />
<input type="hidden" name="NRP" value="" />
<input type="hidden" name="RES" value="" />
<input type="hidden" name="status" value="" />
<input type="hidden" name="weblog" value="" />
<input type="hidden" name="search_in" value="everywhere" />
<input type="hidden" name="where" value="all" />
<input type="hidden" name="site_id" value="1" />

</div>
hiddenFields????? Whazzappwiddatt??

If it's a formatting issue, you can apply CSS formatting to the form itself.

These words:

I did not check to see what else was "lifted" from other places.

Hi yeros,

The overall layout looks fine to me,… in FF.

It is clear that the site is about hypertension but what is not clear at first, is the purpose for the site and who is behind it. A catch phrase or short description in the heading would help visitors know right away what to expect and If the site info is backed by experience then saying so up front will help to gain trust. Perhaps a mission statement and some info about the author to open the home page would break the ice or even an About “the author” page if there is more than a paragraph to tell.

Now about the code…
Here is a link to check the code. Check the option for OUTLINE to see how your heading tags are interpreted. This site will explain proper use for these tags for the best search engine optimization as well as visitor comprehension. The W3C Markup Validation Service
Quote:
<h2 class="asection">&nbsp;</h2>
<h2 class="asection">Navigation</h2>
Note the double use of the h2 tag on the home page and the content within them are,… well, useless for understanding the content of the site.

Also,…
The meta tags for Keywords and Description on the Home page are identical and should not be, for any page.

The Description should be written in 2-3 complete short sentences which explain what the page is about. This tag is what the search engines display on the results page with many other sites related to the search. The short description is an opportunity to let a searcher know what they will find and should set your site apart from the many others listed. No hype is recommended. A detailed, informative short description works best.

Sorry, my bad about the adsense. I read it wrong. I still think you have too many adsense ads on your site though. Especially the one in your active window looks crammed in to me and I think the "subscribe", etc. should be in your sidebar as well.

I'm with shyflower about the advertising being too much.. The "impression" that I get is that this is a very well done Made For AdSense (MFA) site simply because of the number of AdSense ad blocks.. The about us page has 3 ad blocks and a text link block.. And two of those ads go to things about making banner ads not hypertension or blood pressure.. It's the main reason I don't like AdSense..

The header ad will hurt you in landing page scoring with Google.. There is quite a bit of information out there that shows that having an AdSense adblock be one of the first things the adsense crawler sees will lower overall pay rate from Google.. There really needs to be some original content between the top of your page and the first adsense ad to take people away from your site anyway..

The overall design itself is nice.. The top navigation bar needs fixed since I can click on the whole thing.. I should only be able to click on the tabs up there..

I know that you say that you are a clearinghouse for information on your about us page, but I think that the information may have impact if you attribute some of the data to specific studies or Dr., even if it's an asterisk with a footnote..
