Submit Your Site For Review Need a fresh set of eyeballs to take a look at your site? Have a specific issue or question about some aspect of your layout, design or interface? This is the forum for you. When submitting your site, be sure to discuss what aspect you are looking for input on. Just posting a link with the word 'review' isn't appropriate.

Default Need your input

Not sure if this section or the site review is the best area for this thread. Please move it if need be.

This site is not live so I just uploaded a screen shot of it to a free hosting server.

I would like your input on this one please. The more I look at it the more it seems ok but I have very mixed feelings. My gut feeling is it is to dark and the colors are bland. I was looking to capture two people dancing on a moonlight beach and hope to pick up the romantic setting of such. did I do this or did I make a spooky gothic setting? My other issue is the side nav bar and the colors. Any ideas of what would go with the top pic?
The site will hopefully cater to prom, homecoming, and ballroom dancing. This site for now only sells shoes. It may sell dresses and such in the future.

The links are a hover that change to a white background

Before I trash this and start over I would like your input please.

Your gut instinct is correct. You're in the planning/mock up stage. Take your time and do it right.

Nothing about the color set or font style in the logo is indicative of a prom, ballroom or dance atmosphere.

Your "Gothic" reference is spot-on.

For readability, the background color needs to be light enough to easily distinguish black text or dark enough to distinguish white text.

For a dance/party or prom-related site, I'm seeing lots of softer colors but still classy and masculine enough that male users would check it out.

Decide on a color scheme that will convey the message you want to send and start from there.

Assemble a list of products, features and content that would be most relevant for your target audience, services that your prospective clients would be interested in and that best describe the purpose of your site.

Thanks for your input.

I tried pinks and light blues but it started to look like a lingerie site and that's not good when the parents are worried enough about their daughters anyways on that night. So went with darker colors trying to get a different feel on the page. I think I went a little too extreme. Colors are the hardest part "for me anyways". I will keep trying and get the colors right.

Thanks again

Thanks for moving it I was not sure where to put it since it is a pic and not a working site.

Sorry about the pop ups not sure why you got them. I checked to see if the "Free hosting" had them for adverts and I did not get any. and they state no ads.... I myself do not like them. if anyone else gets pop us please let me know and I will remove my account and ask to have this thread removed.

Thanks again

I changed it a little. please let me know if the new one is any better.

Thanks for getting rid of the pop ups ...

It's been more years than I want to tell since I considered buying prom shoes so I am not in your target age group ... but these graphics do not appear to me to be something my nieces would get excited about. The clip art silhouettes and the font of the logo look old fashioned to me ... the silhouettes look more like a couple saying vows than prom night ... I'd like to see something more modern ... maybe using a young couple, the girl's stepping out of a limo with a beautiful strappy prom sandal on her foot ...

Your tag line: One Night in Time A Lifetime of Memories ... what if you changed that to:
One Night in Time A Lifetime in Memories ... it would have a little more symmetry, perhaps ... just a thought ...

I really like that. Yes I will use it if I may. amazing how one word can change the whole feel.

I was not sure what to use at the top. I do not like to use pictures of real peoples faces "due to their age in this case" but I do like the idea. It to has been a while since my wife or I went to prom. Funny thing is NOW I feel really old. You see those old fashion clip art silhouettes came off of my wifes invitation when I took her to the prom "wow what she saves and for how long" Thanks for your input. I still have work to do on it as I'm not totally happy with it.

Sorry for making you feel old ... can't say I feel exactly like a teenybopper myself ... I am happy you like the change to the tagline ... I am honored to have made a good idea a little better if you think so.
