Default Fresh Eyeballs Wanted ;)

Lotus Tarot
http://www.lotustarot.com
http://free-tarot-reading.net

Site was launched back in June 2002.

I built the site rather ad hoc, it was an organic process, learning the coding and db skills as I went!

By 2004 we were getting top 10 rankings across the board for all tarot related key words, scoring number 1 for our best key words.

Traffic has built continuously until we hit a peak last year reaching Alexa 10,000 with around 30k unique visitors per day.

I've been very distracted recently due to a self build project (a physical house this time), a marriage, emigration and a new baby, so have neglected the site and all aspects of SEO.

The result being our PR5 has dropped to PR4/3/2 and we are not even in top 100 for the most important key word 'tarot'.

We need fresh eyes, and perhaps fresh directional energy to take the site to the next level. Any help, suggestions, advice or offers (professional or hobbyist) are welcome.

Best
David

Nice title to your post. For a second I thought I was in the black market organ forum.

I like the subtleties of the colors of your design, but unfortunately it seems a bit "Web 1999"
These days people want to be, need to be "Wowed" by a site to keep their interest.

Do a little reasearch and see what other sites of the same genre are doing Now (2008 - get the hint?)

Best of luck and congratulations on the new Family addition and Home.

Thanks for comments mtheory.

Yes I agree the site looks dated. Actually, from the start, we wanted the site to look like a 'homepage', kind of warm and personal, rather than corporate - it goes with the genre and 90% of visitors are housewifey types.

I often think about a new look, but so many visitors comment on the simplicity of the design and structure of the site, it's been a low priority to make the change.

We'll have to go 'new millenium' soon enough though

I think you should shrink your logo and place your navigation into a javascript flyover (either at the top or on the side).

This would allow your content to move upwards on the page, negating the need to scroll so far down to see it. Also... try to use proper grammar. Sentences start with capital letters, unless Tarot doesn't conform to the rules of English language.

I do like the color scheme though.

I see a redesigned site in your future...

If you've got 30K visitors per day, I'm sure you're making a nice income from this site. Have you considered also offering products to purchase like tarrot cards, occult items, incense, etc.? Having a little store could really increase your revenue. I just glanced at the site but didn't immediately see a store or products other than tarrot readings. Maybe I missed it?

When you do the redesign - which I agree is absolutely needed, as the site looks somewhat out of date and simplistic - consider adding a store. If you affiliate with the right companies, you could be making a significant income from those casual visitors who may not be looking for an online tarrot reading but would love to by cards or other things to play with on their own.
