Default Please review www.dogtech.net

I would like to know what you think of my site.
I have built the entire site by myself including the flash presentations.

http://www.dogtech.net

and would like to know if you would change anything.

Hi ramj925,
First thought the flash intro is not needed for a web hosting company. The logo at the top of the page never stops I would change the logo get rid of the flash and go with a standard very nice looking logo. I like the dog and I like the colors. My biggest problem is with the flash.

Default Stop the dog!

I have to agree with Janeth comments, the Flash intro is really not necessary and does not serve any purpose other than delaying the site load. I do like the fact that you're using a limited color palette, and you have good readability with your black text on a plain white background. I think a sans-serif font would be preferrable to the default Times New Roman currently used.

Your naming technique of your various hosting plans is certainly quite novel.. think I'm tempted by the German Shepherd plan myself! :)

One thing you must do though... I implore you... is to stop that dog from moving from one side of the menu to the other! Unless it's a game.. and you can actually click him to get rid of him that is?

Wishing you lots of luck with the site

Paul

Default Thanks for the comments

I thank you all for your comments so far.

I have followed some of your advice and have followed some advice from others and have updated my site.

I have gotten rid of the very first flash, yes I do agree that it was a little overboard.

I also got rid of the moving dog. But I couldn't decide on how to do the buttons outside of flash. So I left it as a flash but reduced the size by a great bit.

Please relook at my site http://www.dogtech.net and tell me what you think of it now.

Thanks Again

Hi RJ

The site is much easier to view without the animated dog. If you're not using any Flash in your menu now this could easily be replaced by a static image map. I still think that the site font would be better in a sans-serif style. Times New Roman is great for print, but Arial, Helvetica or Verdana work better on the web.

The dog theme is great, but you really do need a proper company logo. I also I noticed your site's title tag... "Doggone Technology - The New Hosting Company". This seems a bit weak, you need something that includes more keywords. You can then follow this up on your site with an appropriate tagline "Doggone Technology - your website's best friend" for example... okay not my best suggestion, but you get the idea! :c)

RJ,
I would like to say that I do like your offerings. The biggest problem is that there are a few things missing.

Such as:
Contact information? How about a FAQ's page? Where do I direct the domain? What are the server connection speeds? Who is tech support and how do I get a hold of them? Who are YOU and why should I let you host my site (especially if I am paying for a year in advance)? These are all questions that should be answered before I even get to the buy me page.

I commend you on this venture. It is a great challenge to stand out in this industry and you have a great concept. I would suggest checking out some of the larger companies (viaverio.com, interland.com, etc.) and see what they say on their pages. Don't copy, but use as a guide on how to develop your service.

Best of luck.
P.S. private e-mail me. I am seriously interested in your service. :o)

I would create a separate page for each plan and provide more details for each. You need more content for the search engines to chew on. The overall look of the site is excellent.

Hi there:

I never saw your flash site, so I can't really comment on that. Overall, I like your site. It's pretty simple and clean. I personally wouldn't have used the dog theme myself as it makes the site (in my miniscule opinion) less professional sounding than a more conventional name and theme. I also think you need to work on the logo and header a bit too. I must admit however, that I've never seen a more novel approach!

I really do like your product offerings, especially your prices! I think that with more content and more information (as the gentlement from TN suggested) about who you are and what you have to offer you would really clinch it for you. Provide more information about your site, services and background and I may be interested in hosting with you! Anyway, there are my two cents worth.

THE BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!

Regards,

JCaro,

I never saw the flash site, but it looks good, although I would agree about the font... I normally do all my sites in Verdana to Tahoma.... looks clean.
Love your prices, but you have no info regarding domain name registration and charges...
I am going to be transferring one of my sites in about 10 days... so if you are ready then, email me with all pertinent info.

Default I really appreciate all the help.

I really do appreciate all the help that every one is giving me.

I am in the process of changing the fonts. I am also in the process of creating a FAQ page and an About Me page.

The contact information is under the Contact Info page. The support contact info is under the support page.

The domain direct info is in the Welcome E-mail.

I was thinking about putting each plan on a separate page.

I have also change the title of my page from - "The New Hosting Company" to "The Internet's Best Friend"

Default Thanks everyone.

I have done a remake of the logo and some of the colors of the website.

I am now in the process of creating an About Us page.

Please tell me what you think of the new color scheme and logo.

I would work on the logo a little more and the nav bar is almost the same color as the back ground. It looks a lot better then it did. You getting there

As Janeth says.. the site is getting there bit by bit... the Tahoma font is a big improvement on the old one (Times New Roman).

Your logo is 22kb in size, which is way too large, and is slowing down the overall speed of your page download. Try simplifying the logo.. think flat colour, forget the glow effect.. try to imagine how your logo is going to appear on your business cards, stationery, etc.
Why not post to the Logo review forum and see what feedback you get there?

Good to see the site starting to take shape!
