What is the point of this website?
There are many others offering the same/similar software.

What is your unique added value?

Server response very slow. Where is the hosting server? Copy right 2005? Also clicking on Download Service Desk leads to someone else’s website. Why not link it to blank so it opens another instance? Actually all links lead people away from you. I like the colour scheme, also the graphics. I assume you populate the subjects later on release.

Hello Mr. Dave Barns,

The unique added value of this site is the system designed inhouse after careful analysis. Other sites are there but this one is built for the developers by the developers. We have tried to make it as developer friendly as we can however there may be certain glitches because developers are usually not very good testers and reviewers that is why we have came to people like you for positive/negative reviews based on facts you find or see in our web scripts directory at Search-Scripts.com

To paul_ross,

Thanks for your appreciation about site design and color scheme. Yes, we are planning to add the subjects upon release. By the way, when you say about the download service desk link, where do you see that link? The "Download" link on view script lisitng page opens in a new blank window. May be you are referring to the google ads being displayed at the top or at the right side. It is not in our hands to open the google ad links in new window.

Sincerely,

Ajay Chadha (Director)

That is right, it's the Google links. If you can not change the code I would not put them there. It rakes people away from your site. If you target professional developers, they will have little use for the software anyway. Unless you do it for commercial reasons. Wish you well with the site.

I agree about the look of the site. Also, it seems easy to navigate, straight-forward to use, and uncluttered.

Please consider hiring a copy editor to clean up the grammar on your site. Improper use of English on a site marketed to a primarily English-speaking audience is one of my personal pet peeves on any web site. It lowers your credibility and you're not taken seriously. Also, it's just plain unprofessional.

Example:

"Select the category appropriate for what you are looking for."

The use of the word "for" twice in that sentence is not only awkward, it's incorrect.

Try

"Select the category best related to what you're looking for." However, this sentence is redundant.

Consider replacing that entire paragraph with this:

"The Search Scripts Directory is divided into categories to make your search as simple and quick as possible."

And leave it at that. You're marketing to developers, not newbies - we all know how to choose categories.

Also, the boxes where you plan to sell advertising - when you mouse over them, everything to the right and left jumps down a couple of pixels, and everything below jumps down about twice as many pixels. I personally find that behavior annoying. What is the reason for the jump on mouseover? If you must highlight the mouseover activity, a color change would be better - IMHO.

And finally, if you aren't using the Web Developer toolbar add-on for Firefox, you should be. Your CSS has an issue (Warning: Error in parsing value for property 'font'. Declaration dropped. Source File: http://www.search-scripts.com/test/phpkb.css
Line: 287) It also showed some scripting errors, but they disappeared on re-load.

To SerenitiSFV,

Thanks so much for your valuable reviews. We have taken all of your suggestions seriously and implemented them. Please check the website now and give more such reviews as we highly appreciate them. Once again many thanks.

To paul_foss,

We have not control over the content of ads displayed by google adsense system since its the google's algorithm to scan the content of the page and display relevant ads. You might have noticed that ads keep changing with time.

Sincerely,

"Search-Scripts includes a tips and tutorials section for webmasters and developers."

This should link to the "tips and tutorials" section. I wasn't able to find a link anywhere on your site to that section. Why isn't it in the menu? How does one find it?

It's good to think big, but important to be realistic too. Currently you'd like to take on the likes of hotscripts.com - but you have more ads than scripts.

Attempting to monetise an empty site does not seem the right way of approaching this. Visually the site looks like many others - maybe a familiar look is what you want...

Hello PaulB,

Thanks for your advice. You see, the site has not yet been released to the public; that is why it is an empty site. We would like to have the reviews first and get any required changes done before we make the site avilable to devlopers and webmasters for their script submissions. When you say "maybe a familiar look is what you want..", please explain what exactly you mean by that statement. Once again thanks for your time.

To Lynda,

Once again thanks for pointing out the issue with "Tips & Tutorials" link. We will get it linked soon. Please submit more such reviews. Search-Scripts.com is a big site and there aremany other sections when you sign up. We would appreciate if you go deep down, explore all other pages and submit more reviews. May be we can offer you the post of a modedrator if you are interested and have spare time for Scripts Directory portal at Search-Scripts.com

I don't see how it can be much clearer: I mean the site looks familiar. ie. there are many similar looking ones / it's not original. But may be that's the effect you want.

Hello PaulB,

The design is completely original and created in house bu our development team however it is based on the design of our knowledge base software product "PHPKB" which can be seen at Knowledge Base Software: PHPKB, PHP Knowledge Base Script, FAQ Software

May be you have seen a copy of our knowledge base software on some customer's website and you have that idea in mind?
