Default Review for Body Jewelry Site

Hi gang,

As always, I would appreciate everyone's input, both good and especially critical.

Do not look at the site for anything other than usability. I want to convert more of my visitors to buyers. I believe the eyes here can help me with that.

The site for our non piercing body jewelry is Non Piercing Nipple Jewelry & Body Rings - NippleCharms.com

IMPORTANT: Please do not click on the site if you or your community are offended by some slight nudity (our mouthpiece makes us say that and they charge enough for that advice so we take it.)

I will await your comments either here or via IM if you prefer.

Thanks everyone! I have my cry blanket ready!

Michael

HI,

Over-all a nice web design. That being said, my only suggestion is to design a much better looking logo. It was all red and all the way to the right a picture of a face.

i would emulate this style.

Cameo Lingerie- Sexy Lingerie Costumes Corsets Bustiers in Regular & Plus Size

you have the basic look down. i would spend time refining the look and feel. make it more feminine... more sexy... and yes, more breast - tastefully done, of course (because that is what you are selling). and don't forget, the female breast is great linkbait. do you use models or do you have an image bank you choose from?

it's all about accentuating your product and i don't see enough of it on the front page...

On the look and feel, the menu on the left hand column looks untidy with the different cases. A different font would look classier too.

You might want to look at the html as there is something not right with the layout of the header area as it causes the validator to have a fit.

Site looks like it has been made in the WYSIWYG of Dreamweaver too.

I agree that the top banner and logo are lacking in something too.

the top header box doesn't line up with the page. It's off an inch or 2 on each side. At least on my browser.

great idea for product.

found the site difficult to easily navigate. Too much scrolling to find info.

Thanks Chris. The site that you refer is big bucks. I love it. Wish I could afford that type of site. that would put me into the big leagues. I will try some of your suggestions. Did you say you wanted to take our site on as a test?

Too many borders.
Too many different fonts.
"JaneGuide" animation banner (bottom of page) belongs to 90s’
Too many horizontal rules.
Quick navigation on bottom: too long...

Tom, to many is right. I will try to work on the borders. Red is supposed to be a call to action. No? what would you suggest (or anyone) for the bottom nav links? Also looks like to me I have maybe two fonts going here. I will check.

Thanks Littleman!!

I did get a few IM about breasts. I have to be careful as people do look at our site at work and having a nice looking breast out there... well if the co-workers or boss was looking.... . Trying to be tasteful, there for the picture of the shirt with the chains showing thru.

Other suggestions, comments, answers and specific remedies are welcome.

Michael

Maybe you could replace the red with a nice soft pink it may blend in better,as for the breast thing, well yeh we would all like to see more breasts everywhere, but I sincerely believe it looks tastefully done as it is,I found the navigation easy to use except at the bottom of the page maybe a slightly darker colour,One thing about designing your own website no matter what you do it will never be right there will always be something to tweak,I should now,I started out with a well designed site, now it is a mess so I am in the process of sorting it out,and with running a search engine first impressions are everything but I suppose that applies to all websites. The morale is, If it ain`t broken do not try to fix it.

Personall opinion your site looks great,I saw a screen shot of your site in the webpro newsletter and it caught my eye striaght away so I decided to check it out so it can`t be all that bad, well done on a great website.

If you would like to include it in the littleman search database for crawling visit

Too red!! What is with the caps in the left hand navigation bar.
The glass dildo has got to be off of the front page. (yes, I'm an old fart but it still is too much in your face)
My opinion, the boobs need a face. The pictures need to be toned down, unsharpened, lower light. The picture on the home page with the white shirt is much more attractive than the bare breast shots. A smaller breast with a sheer blouse will be much better. The pasties pictures are actually the ones that are going to get looked at.

The nav bar needs to be shorter Either sub-menus or going to another page. I would eliminate it from the home page using a subtle picture, of the item, and a clickable link would probably be better. The ssl certificate the Janes seal paypal all at the bottom. The home page has way to much text and a pornish look; sorry can't think of a better term. I have to agree with Chris there is a good look for this type of site, and you aren't there yet.

IMO unless you are appealing to some very strange people the site needs to be toned way down. It just need some class.
I would have a woman look at it. I don't think you have the right perspective. Think Nieman - Marcus.

Toned down? Not sure in what way you mean. Why do you say "strange people"?

Strange in the sense already into piercing. I see your site as one that is appealing to the woman who wants to be a little daring, but not committed to the look. The jewelry and even the tatoo's say middle of the road I want to try this; not live with it.
By toned down, I think you need to view your site from the point of view of a woman who is probably is not going to pierce body parts other than ear lobes and is never going to be tatooed.
My gut tells me your demographic is a lot more conservative than your site appears.
Using a magazine example I would not spend much money on Cosmopolitan, as I would think that reader is pierced in places other than her ears, I would try Vogue and bet that was the audience I was looking for, willing to try something risque but not looking for a lot of pain. I doubt I would send much money on Town and Country but maybe some just to test the waters.
So my question is do you think your site appeals to the woman who reads Vogue?

Thanks Netman!

I would say our demographic is that but more. We sell a lot to the swinger community. And that demographic is all over the board. There are women in those clubs that have no piercing or tattoos to women that have piercing in places I have only seen in magazines. (Ok I have seen those places but you get my point) And also some really freaking HOT tatts.

For the most part yes, its the woman that does not want anything forever and wants the look or the woman who have had piercing but for whatever reason did not like it, or the piercing would not stay.

I did not think the site was that much "in your face", for lack of a better example. I do think it looks a little 1999-2000 but that is my limit in coding. Do I want a slick lingerie-type site like Chris suggested? Who doesn’t? But I also see that many people view our site in the workplace and I do not want to show models that frankly show too much. Those pictures are saved for the "click the picture to see it worn" area.

Thanks for your input. I see my list of things-to-do is growing!

Thanks all.

Michael

This site is about non pirecing body jewellry or so I believe unless I have missed something,I see netman44ttm`s point of view, but your site isn`t neccassarily aimed at the woman who read vogue is it,anyway perhaps some of the woman who read vogue may like that sort of thing when they are behind closed doors, who knows, overall though as a man with no tattoos and only one ear pierced I think this site has potential and looks good,I do believe it is designed for the younger generation of females that like that sort of thing, but maybe I am wrong,My first impression of the site is it looks good, upon closer scrutiny anyone will find something wrong with any site they visit,no matter who`s it is,the other day I had a newsletter through and the author was complaining about the lack of content on Googles search pages,so no matter who`s site it is their will always be something wrong,as for the seo of the site,Littleman Search crawled this site yesterday and it spidered pretty well and quickly,I didn`t find many serious errors.Keep up the good work nipple charms.

Sincerely
