Please review my Website

Hi all

I have finally launched. Its only taken me 2 and a half years.

I am now seeking for constructive criticism and feedback on both sites:

My Business Website: Web design Essex, SEO for small businesses - DVH Design

My Blog: Small business articles, SEO web design articles - DVH Design

My main question is the issue with my top banner. So I would also be happy if you could tell me (please) which one looks better and should be used throughout my site.

Also if you could tell me what platform and resolution you are using to browse my site, I would be very much obliged.

Firefox 2 under Mac OS X.

I find your business homepage to be boring. It is not as elegant as I would prefer to see from a web design firm. I wish I could be more articulate, but I am an engineer.

On your SEO page, you have a link AWAY from your website to Wikipedia. Don't link away at such a high level.

FF 2 - windows 2000

to be honest, i'm kinda disappointed!

when i read your post, i was truly expecting to be blown away by what i saw, but alas, i gotta agree with dave...it's boring. blah. meh.

for starters, you don't really seem to have committed to a colour scheme of any sort...you've got just about every shade under the sun going on there...many of which do not match (orange menu background under a red header??). Perhaps instead of the red, switch it up to a more inviting brown, which'd do well with orange and grey.

not really down with the butterfly AND the lightning either...pick one or the other. also, if you are making the butterfly a part of your logo, i'd maybe soften the font choice of your logo up...to 'tekky' looking.

when you rollover your menu options, they become hard to read...and i've got some pretty good peepers on me! Go lighter or darker on the grey.

on the plus side, your markup is pretty tidy (although would like to see 'strict' doctype), and you seem to know what you're talking about.

I personally prefer your blog site header - the only thing i'd say is perhaps to get the title on one line, or make the second line a bit longer as it just looks a bit unbalanced - maybe right align it? I also prefer the main text on your blog site it looks cleaner and a bit more modern (although your website is prob better in terms of accessiblity!)

I'm not personally a fan of bright blue links/purple visited but i always say this in reviews -its just my own design preference.

Its well laid out and structured and easy to find your way around. the only other comment i'd make in terms of design is perhaps to sylise your images - give them all a border, or something to make them fit better with the overall design.

Otherwise i'd say nice site - I love the red you've used and its clearly very well designed in terms of usability and accesibility.

p.s i've done a florida villa site too - is it just me or is every holiday villa in florida identical?!

There are still a lot of changes to make, but thats a start at least. I am actually veering towards the more simplistic banner (the blog one) which should probably open up the site more (and reduce the download time).

A comment I got today from one of my friends got me thinking: Has anyone got MSIE 6 browser? And if so, would you please be a saint and take a look at the drop-down menus.

Apparently theres an unslightly issue.
