I'm currently working on a new directory site, hoping to get a few submissions to get it started...

Please let me know if you find it easy to navigate / understand and if i've missed out any obvious categories!

Feel free to submit your sites - although at the moment they'll be reviewed and posted manually, by me, we'll soon have a more automated system.

First of all, there's nothing better than a site that loads some time this week. So, you've already got good marks from me there :)

I think that if you click the logo, you should be able to return to the index page. Most people will just click the logo to return to the start. It's just the done thing.

Also, the site listing logo's should be clickable.

You should also implement some ALT tags, title tags and table summaries, and you will get better search engine rankings,

I would also be inclined to make a DIV/CSS site layout. Not tables. Your site has a very simple structure, and you could get your code to text ratio WAY down, which will increase your search engine rankings.

All in all, well done. Nice clean design. Clean coding. I see you haven't SEO'd it yet. When are you going to start that?

Also, why are all the page titles the same? This is a waste of potential rankings.

I tested the site in Mozilla, Opera and IE. The site functions correctly in all of them. Cool, well done.

Hi MrLen - thanks for your comments.

I'll be dealing with SEO stuff / page titles when the site is fully databased and functioning. The current layout and design is still being changed and that is why I wanted some feedback for the initial look and feel.

The site listing's will be linked through their logos.

I decided not to use DIVS/CSS for this site, just to make a change really. All my most recent websites have been built using this system but there doesn't seem to be any difference in search engine rankings. Even sites that i've changed from HTML to CSS I haven't noticed a difference in traffic.

Yeah, I agree with you mate. I went on a CSS/DIV rampage recently, and noticed no real difference with my rankings.

However, I am still concernned with page loading speed, and the CS/DIV sites load MUCH faster!

Therefore, when search engine see that visitors hang around longer - because the site is more pleasurable to navigate, your rankings will benefit.

So now, I have decided to use about 90% CSS and 10% Tables :) I have decided that one or two tables wont hurt. Tables are MUCH easier to build sites with, and a lot easier to structure.

Looks really clean I like it a lot. It should be a lot better when more sites have been added but as it builds up it'll be awesome.

Keep going, job well done so far ;)

Nice, more content and you are in business. Only one thing - I want to be able to get back to the directory from a link - did I miss something? That would be crucial, or is it once you are out you're out?

It's loooking good, i think you need to get a lot more sites on there before it starts to really pick up.

Maybe if everyone from here submitted their sites it would really be a way to get it off to a running start?

Thanks guys, i'm glad you like the look of the site.

I've put some of your submissions on there now, and like Inside says, submitting your urls to this site will help it get going and should help everyone involved.
