Hi everyone, any advice and assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated. I'm new at this and am doubting the advice I'm getting from our hired webmaster.

Here's the story: we had our website professionally re-designed and launched Sept. 2003. We were told by the webmaster that he had to secure the entire site instead of just the shopping cart, which added an https to the content as well as shopping cart section. Since then we've had search engines reject the listing saying "the site is redirected." We've also had proposed link partners tell us they don't want to link to us because our whole site is secure, and one person said that's why we don't register a page rank on Google. We are registering 5 and 6 under keywords quilts and collectibles.

Secondly, our customers are complaining about the shopping cart navigation being confusing. Would you make some recommendations on how we can improve that as well?

What else strikes you as good things to do to improve the site?

Default website critique

Your site is quite nice, and tasteful. I can't comment on the https situation, as I do not have any knowledge about that.

I did have a problem with your Navigational Links, though. I had expected to be able to see your products, by clicking on quilts on the left side of your page. I am not so sure I like the way your Links are set up....it was not at all what I had expected. Remember, most of us read from left to right, and the most important links should be on the left or up at the top of the page. A lot of people don't like wasting time, and they want to see what you have to offer right away.

When I did get to the quilts, the page seemed awfully long before I finally got to the shopping cart function.

You have added a lot of good content to your site, and that should be very helpful in page ranking. I would maybe move the part about the quilts to the lower part of the home page, so the search engines can pick up all that keyword-rich content.

A review of my site would also be appreciated.

My site redirects and I have no problems getting listed in SE's like Google. You have a Google PR of 4/10 which suggests that you need to get more sites linking to yours. A very nice design. Good luck with it.

The basic rule here is listen to your customers. Obviously, something is wrong with the way the shopping cart is set up.

In my experience a site does not have to be completely secure to implement a shopping cart system. It may just be the way that your cart works but there are other ways.

The site itself is well laid out and easy to get around, although it wasn't immediately obvious what it was about.

Good luck with it.

Default Hello Old Friend

Hello Old Friend and weclome to WPW.
I sure like the changes you have made over the last last year, much cleaner.
When I visited your site all loaded very well except the baby quilt page was very slow to load, I am on dial up at 50k or so.
Had no trouble with the shopping cart, but like N30 said got to listen to the customers.
I did note that the top text was out over the links on the right in the Firebird Browser, but in IE, Netscape and Opera it was fine.

I want to know how you get the cats to work, we have 5 and all they do is sleep and eat.

Have a great day!
