Default Please Review Bangor Punta

Some folks will remember this company from the latter part of the 1900's - It's a relatively new site (launched in April 2007). Any comments or recommendations on the design or coding would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Good use of colors, font, etc. Good navigation. I felt the pages look a little "narrow" compared to many sites these days. If you widen them, the vertical scrolling may be minimized.

Other than that, I don't get the concept of the site. There were any references to the mid-70's and mid-80's, but nothing current (although I may have missed it).

I felt the pages look a little "narrow" compared to many sites these days...

It was a very difficult decision as only about 12 percent of the visitors to Bangor Punta have displays of 800x600. I'm sure at some point in the future, the design will switch to 1028 or larger width.

I don't get the concept of the site. There were any references to the mid-70's and mid-80's, but nothing current...

I understand how that happened - a newly launched site covering a company that hasn't existed since 1984. Although Bangor Punta Corporation only existed for 21 years, their footprint was sometimes larger than life. Perhaps it was the companies owned or their lengthy battle over Piper Aircraft with Chris-Craft which was decided by the US Supreme Court -- all combined helped write Bangor Punta into the history books (or at least the law books).

The primary purpose of this website is to provide a nostalgic look at Bangor Punta and the companies they owned during the period they owned them. A few of the companies survived the Bangor Punta Era and links to their respective websites are provided.

- I'll have to correct tomorrow - thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Thanks again for taking the time to provide feedback on Bangor Punta. It is very much appreciated!

A lot of info on the 1st page - it does tell us about you, but could you put some of that on an 'About Us' page, & condense the front page to be more punchy??
I agree with it being a little on the thin side - it may help with less scrolling down if you widen a little.
Do you need the background colour? I wasn't warming to the green, but this may appear sharper without the background colour??
Good luck

"A lot of info on the 1st page - it does tell us about you, but could you put some of that on an 'About Us' page, & condense the front page to be more punchy??"

That's actually a complicated question -- we used the "About Us" page to describe the organization behind the Bangor Punta website, not Bangor Punta themselves (since the company no longer exist). I do agree that the home page could improve with some editing and it will be easier as time progresses (and additional information is available) to move off much of the content of the first page. This will evolve over time.

"I agree with it being a little on the thin side - it may help with less scrolling down if you widen a little."

One way we could make this appear wider is to move the links on the right to the left navigation area. That would add about 120px per line and definitely decrease the page length. Besides having about 12% of our users have a 800x600 resolution, most of the highly rated award sites won't consider a website (for an award) that has horizontal scrolling at 800x600.

"Do you need the background colour?"
I think you're referring to the logo wallpaper in an attempt to fill up the space on wider browsers. It probably does not need the background or the logo could be placed on a white repeating background.

Thanks again for all your suggestions. I appreciate the extra eyes and ideas to help make the website better for the users. -- I guess that's what it's all about.
