Default www.affordable-furniture.net

Hi all, its been a while since I've posted any work here.

I have a little project that is (hopefully) nearing completion:
www.affordable-furniture.net/home.php

Its the home.php page to start with as it is not 'live' yet and the index file is a temp holding page.

As i said it is not yet fully operational but the category/product pages are working as are the cart and checkout etc.

More bits will be coming together over the next few days but i wanted to know if something doesn't work right or if any big alterations need making.

OK, over to you guys 'n' gals.

1. While using the pound symbol for the f in Affordable is cute, I wonder what you will do when the Euro becomes the currency of the UK.

2. The homepage is really boring. My problem is that I am not a designer and don't know how to make furniture exciting. I just know that Affordable Furniture does not "grab" me. I would suggest combing the talents of a graphic artist and a photographer who specializes in "fabulous furniture photos". Sorry that I can be more helpful.

You know something we don't? If that even happens it will be someone else's problem because it will be over my dead body ( along with the vast majority of British people ), or simply the logo will change.

This is the hardest page to make (imho), the rest are mostly pages to sort and list the data etc. Altering the layout/design is not a problem to implement, its more a case of finding inspiration. It also happens to be one of the few pages I haven't got 'stuck into' yet.

The limitation I have with product images is that they are supplied by the manufacturers and are not exciting at all, also, the furniture is relatively inexpensive and certainly not 'designer' therefore the images we get are rather dull as they seem to be done 'on the cheap' in lot of cases.

I would consider myself a developer rather than designer so it tends to be harder for me to get the visuals 'just so' however the examples you have offered are very nice...watch this space!

Thanks for the input.

The page is clean and easy, I really like that. The pictures look fine to me, I was expecting worse after reading the previous reviews.

There are no keyword or description meta tags and the title could be better constructed.
