Here is one of my first attempt at using Swish with FrontPage 2000. The client wanted a new look with sound effects. As I said I am new to Flash but I think it came out fairly nice. May be slow for dialup but the client wanted it that way. Anyway constructive critique is welcomed.

When I use one of my home computers running MS-Win-98 with all current updates to OS and IE Browser I get the following error and IE closes.

IEXPLORE caused a general protection fault
in module USER.EXE at 001c:000013b8.

I haven't tried this on another 98 machine so I am not sure if its my box or not.

Thanks in advance

Hi Bill,

Nice site. Not too sure about the black background, but that's just personal opinion.

The map could use a tweak, it's a bit grainy, and as you said that the downloads were already a bit slow a higher res picture shouldn't cause a problem.

hope it helps

I like the over all site. The thing that I had problems with it appears you have and that is the size of the tables. It would be nice not to scroll to see the whole thing. Several folks through this forum has helped me get started with that. I view on 800 x 600 and need to scroll your site. Just a suggestion. Nice look though.

Although I don't like even soft porn sites, I do respect webmasters asking for professional reviews, so I'll check it tomorrow on several Win 98 machines that match your specs to see if there's a problem there. Worked fine on XP Home and ME. I didn't have any of the graininess others refered to, but that's probably due to my monitors and screen resolution.

By the way, "Golden Spa has the hottest Asian's in Georgia Guaranteed!!!" should probably be "Golden Spa has the hottest Asians in Georgia. Guaranteed!!!"

I'm impressed by the 'golden spa' flash; crystal clear. Any quick pointers on getting this done?

Display width best shown as 760px (40px for the vertical scrollbar, otherwise you will get a horizontal scrollbar).

The rotating credit card gif can be improved. Save the gif blend with black background; this will eliminate the whitsh fringe.

Good image choices for all pages.

Larry.

Default USER.EXE at 001c:000013b8.

Same thing happenned to my friend running Win98 on a 1333Mhz with 256 RAM. (I only put this info to show you that it is not a performance issue with your computer)

What is happenning is that IE and another process are trying to use the same space in the computer memory, if I'm not mistaken. The error code withnumbers like 001c.000001.... are memory addresses.Anyway who cares...

What we did in his case was hit the keys 'ctrl' and 'alt' at the same tine then keep holding them down and press the delete - ('del')key. A window should open up, it is the "Task Manager"and has some tabs at the top of it's window.
Select the one called 'Processes' and see if one of them running is called 'rundll32.exe'. If yes, right click on it and select 'End process', I think(it's been a while), then a warning will come up about the dangers of terminating a running prosecc blah blah so pick 'end anyways.

Close that window and things should be fine. If you want, email me esp. if it keeps happenning (assuming that IS the problem!). I almost always vote for black backgrounds so no complaints here. Book me for next Monday! lol .

The blinking text at the bottom(Mozilla) is ... ungly?. Also you should not have a counter on the site. If the client wants to know how their site is doing you should show them how to read the logs. A counter is not very accurate either. There is also a graphic at the bottom that is not showing up.

On the specials page you changed fonts, background color and text alignment. Should be uniform throughout the site. Also the address should also be the same font face.

Like others I'm not too sure about the black background and yellow text and then going to the Red VERY large?.

The main logo looks nice. I like the effect but I think it is a little large.. even at 1600x1200 resolution. I can just imagine what it is at lower res.

And yes .. very hot girls :)

Overall pretty good...

Hi Bill, I am unfortunately reduced to a 56k modem connection at the moment and I was unable to see the logo/animation (I assume?) in the 4 minutes I waited. I actually checked out the site to see what you had done with swish:)

Love the front page graphic, it probably would have been nice to work with the blues and purples instead of the black. Also, I agree with the other comments, everything is just a bit big. I use 1024x768 resolution and still have to scroll.

Last, but not least...I would work on consistency a bit more (alignment, backgrounds).

Thanks for sharing,
GG

Default Thanks to all who replied

I just wanted to say thank you to all you folks who took the time to review my site and comment on it. I have used the comments and made some changes to the display size. 800x600 was the recommendation. Now the page links are conveinently located and the site is a bit more consistant. As far as the backround being black, the counter, this is the clients choice so I left it alone. The credit card rotation is a bit crude. I did try to eliminate the white edges but was unsuccessful. I may need to create or find some clearer pics. Someone asked about the clarity of the site. I agree the jpegs are crystal clear. I carefully selected my best shots. Also I am using Swish 2.X for the Flash stuff, which does a fantastic job and is fairly easy to learn. Not sure if it has anything to do with the clarity or not, since I have never tried any other flash designer. Again thanks to all of you and have a great Holiday.
