Default call to action input - graphixplus.com

Hey folks,

after many months of development, i've finally launched our new site.

Given the nature of the industry, you can't actually purchase anything from the site, but each product has an 'email sales' feature which is pretty easy to use.

However, I haven't received any email inquiries yet.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the call to action...any thoughts on how to improve?

Thanks!

Few things.

How many people have downloaded the catalogue? More importantly....why not email the link instead of making it a free download?

I have posted about calls to action before - but as a summary:

What do I want you (the visitor) to do?
Why would you do that?
Why would you do that NOW?

If you made your call to action "put your email address in here and we will email a link to our most uptodate catalogue to you immediately" I would guess that those that are interested enough in your services would see giving you an email address as a fair payoff to get the info.

Make sure there is a "subscription" message to comply with any data collection requirements or opt in requirements and you get what you need.

So - that is one call to action page
Next

When I look at a series of products that I like - as a customer I want to action that product at that time. So
when I was looking here:

http://www.graphixplus.com/detail.php?prod_id=0276

I almost told you that there was no opportunity on that page for me to ASK for info - and then, when I double checked - there it was! I am guessing that a bunch of your visitors do not even see it. The alt text reads "click here to email this item" (which makes it sound like you really got electronic delivery down!) and this isn't what I want to do - I want a quote! When I clicked on it I realised that actually that is your call to action page.

The "call to action" doesn't make me want to email you and unless I really wanted your company to do it for me I may not even bother filling in the form - if I did then I (and virtually everyone who completed the form) would send it to the President - why send it to anyone else?

So - that's the second call to action

Third is - why not bribe 'em? You must have a warehouse full of cheap (in the nicest possible way!) items. Why not have a qualification page for companies (NOT individuals) where they can complete your profiling page and receive a free gift. This means
a) you need to know some stuff like address etc to get the gift to them
and
b) they are likely to give you more than normal to get the freebie

Which means you will have the suit in sales qualify his company for you and give you the buyer's name in return for a cool ballpoint.

All of the above is a long winded way of saying:

You do not have strong calls to action - you are passively hoping they will do what you want.

Push a little - make it easy - and bribe 'em!
