hola...
haven't posted here for a long time .. sigh... however, I have a site that my new client needs some input on. The site is at the very top of the search engines in all the pertinent keywords, but doesn't have anything in the way of cross-links... - the site works - secure, functioning CC, etc.. (tho due to budgeting limitations isn't very elegant) but the orders are just not what they used to be.
We are looking for constructive suggestions to make the site more appealing and user-friendly. Questions like - is it too complicated? Too Hard to Order from? - Too hard to choose a fabric? No Clear-cut policies, is the design not applealing .. etc.. etc.. the site is http://www.swimsuit4u.com

Hello NorCalWM,

I would style the menu category, and put these in an list rather than using tables. The product categories are also in the same column as the contact us, wish list, site map links etc - why not separate the two so the items for sale are on the left and main navigation elsewhere.

The flash thing going on in the lower right doesn't really say much so I would drop it.

The product category menu seems to change when you click on a product group - I would recommend keeping a consistent look throughout the entire site.

Thank you for some great feedback !!
I'm planning on changing the storefront menu methodology - just have to hand code it into the layout page in the CF.

Aside from the formatting and such - what is it about the site that has, without a major remake, caused it to lose sales so dramatically? - OPne of the things we ponder is ..."Do women want to see "everyday models" - or do they want to see attractive women modeling the suits they are considering purchasing". Part of the conundrum is that most major swimsuit makers have supermodel models.... but they are expensive and hard to find.

Since this is completely "custom swimwear" will women want to see shapes and figures similiar to thier own? - Perhaps one of the most perplexing marketing i've ever worked on..... Please... suggestions??
Thanks all !!

Default Where are the photos?

This is a swimwear site, on top of the suggestions above, Get some photos into the site. A text only site that has this many options and info is just overwhelming.

Get more visual eye candy and more explanation of items into the actual product pages.

On one page, the links below didn't work.
Click Here for Bra Option Information
Click Here for Leg Cut Information
Click Here for Tummy Control Information

One other visual thing, don't allow the background image to run more than once. Define the background image in CSS and the Background Color to match the far right color so the background flows a little better. Outside of an 800x600 site it looks a little odd.

Finally, and most importantly, fix the errors on the pages. On your company info page there are 172 errors. That's way too many. Accessibility, useability and more are very important items to true success.

Again, thanks for more information. On the company information page, i'm assuming many of the errors are the extraneous microsoft code that lives in there now.

The owner of the site has taken-on doing most of the text updates and such. In as much, she had typed out the original in MS Word - then copy pasted all that nasty MS code into the HMTML editor for the site... ergo, pure garbage code. I know the code pretty much sucks - but the average jo-ann doesn't check for code integrity before purchasing.

I need more input on design - not so much on tech - if you see my other sites you'll note that my own personal sites (the ones I have 100% control over) are very, very clean, simple code and very, very robust navigation. Now, how do I make the products more appealing?? - Thanks again all !!!
