Celebrating for a new site!

I just created my own site http://www.newsswirl.com. What do y'all think of it? All positive comments and critics are welcome.

Yes that is a nice site, the part i dont like about it is the white background, your web page dosent stand out because of it

I am using a high resolutions screen, so i see alot of white, personally myself i like to see a website that uses the whole page, but anyways i would try a border and maybe a light blue gradient, a colour that goes well with your header image,

I would flick about with the colours to try and find the right one, but other than that great design.

I don't mind the white, however, it resembles a domain holding page with links to "similar" sites.

I would suggest researching additional ways of displaying those links.

Site format is definitely nothing new... looks a lot like a scraper site. Good luck staying in the search engines for an extended period of time.

Two rows of Adsense results really help too...(not)

My Compliments Chris! The site is clean and that's the best compliment that another designer can give another designer. As a developer for many years I've seen a lot of web sites come and go -- thousands frankly that never made it -- not all because they weren't good but because so many are similar or had little or no originality.

Don't get me wrong! I think the site does have some originality but when one poster on here says it lacks something when it has a white background and a guy with a name like CorporateFace on here says that it lacks something with the white background I'd sit up and take notice. I think white is just fine, but I think the site lacks a certain amount of originality or, or magic. Maybe if you work with some different colors and find some that will spruce it up that would help give it the shot in the arm it needs. Otherwise delivering mainly Google results I just don't think will get you that far on the web. Like in life I could be wrong, but that's my opinion for you to consider. It lacks a spark Chris! And that's what it needs--- a certain kind of spark that will make it stand out and shine and become a winner on the web!

I just had a thought. Stop the presses :o).

You may consider doing something with your name and non-logo. I like your name NewsSwirl. I think that this part is original (since the originality is what seems to be the topic). Try do a modern logo for your newsswirl, and then incorporate it into your site.

The graphic with www in it at the top I think makes it look like a "non-site".

I know that there has been a lot of critisism in here this thread, but it is the good kind (for the most part). Like the poster before me said ... It is clean. I agree. I also think it is attractive, it just looks like something I would click off of as soon as I came to it. You have to catch me when I get there, and convince me to stay and use it.

Thank you so much for everyone's contribution. I certainly take all your comments into my consideration.

Now I am in the course of updating the layout of this site. Look forward to hearing your comments once again. Does anyone know how to stay out of the MFA category but still make money from adsense?
