Default I want your cruel and harsh criticism - no, really...

I think this website is pretty good - what say you?

Default nice but...

From a purely graphic point of view I think your site is very nice. I'm not too keen on brown or bashe though. Frankly brown turns off visitors so it's sort of risky to have on a site, especially a new site like yours. The site is visually appealing though.

However, it desperately needs more copy. You need to get the word out to visitors what the site is offering right off the bat! It doesn't do that enough in deal on the home page. I'd re-work content into the home page to start. The se's are also content driven.

That's enough for now I suppose. Good luck with the work, which needs to be done to make it a winner!

Thanks for the comments Mike - they weren't very harsh though - c'mon! :-)

I agree that there needs to be more copy - not sure if the business will be interested in abandoning thier color scheme though - but I'll let them know your initial reaction.

I thought the brown/beige combo has a great unique feel to it, but I'm interested in what you said about it turning off visitors. Is there some test-marketing data which confirms this?

hi
i don't actually mind the colour scheme on here but i don't like the texture effect - when i landed on your site it looks like it should be selling kitchens or wooden floors. block colours look simpler, cleaner and more modern. also perhaps you could use another colour to lift the browns a little (see gotomedia.com who have a lovely colour scheme IMO)

the navigation is clear and easy to use but personally i would get rid of the IE default bright blue for rollovers used in the content - why style your site so nicely and have a colour scheme if you are going to use this gaudy blue colour?

Also i would not have any text centre aligned as it is difficult to read (promotions and forum section)

i'm no seo expert but i would agree you need a lot more content.

you should also have a "call-to-action" on the home page as well as the main navigation - you have 4 large images and no click throughs - why not make the 3 right hand images thumbnails of your most recent clients? and have a click through to a latest offer or new offering on the large picture? encourages people to click through more.

hope this helps :-)

Pagetta: Wow - those are all super suggestions - thank you for taking the time to offer your advice. I'm sure we will make all of the changes you've mentioned.

I don't like the default blue hyperlinks either - they can be easily fixed w/ CCS or a style tag in the header - so I know we'll fix that one right away.

This is exciting - thanks again!

First off, I must say Montana is my favorite place to visit so if you need some on-site consulting, please let me know - I am SO THERE. :)

Be sure to check spelling in all text, there are errors throughout. Your "Calenders" subcategory s/b "Calendars".

Two logos on the home page is overkill, especially with the "K" on that textured background. I'd recommend reformatting the content area with graphic samples and lose giant K #2. The text on your home page needs to be actual text to benefit you in the SEs (not text buried in a graphic).

In the graphic design area, I would recommend moving the graphic title and sub-navigation above the portfolio window. I missed the mode of navigating through subcategories since it was below my page fold.

Marcie - Awesome suggestions. You just might get an invite to Montana!

We'll definitely fix the spelling errors, and reorganize the navigation.

I agree with Pagetta. first impression was you were a home remodeling site. Selling Corian counters or cabinets.

After going deeper into it, the content is good,
however I would change the design to look more like an advertising company maybe with brochures and samples of promotional items splashed on the front page. kind of like if you were displaying your items at a trade show.

the old 2 second rule
"do I know what your selling in 2 seconds"

Your first 2 seconds I thought Home remodeling.

Nick

Nick - wow, that's incredible. Turns out, one of the partners of the business used to be in the construction business - so maybe that's why the design seems to say "we build cabinets and stuff!". Great insight!

Nick - hey that looks pretty good - I'll pass that concept on to the owners to see what they think.
