Default theRealIrishPubs.com

Please review my latest site

www.boatypeople.com

The site is currently on a temporary URL but you get the idea. It is not complete yet, and I know it is not built using CSS but this is for reasons beyond my control. Any feedback, good and bad is appreciated.

Thanks

D

The first thing that really sticks out is that your site doesn't really function properly in Firefox but it seems to be fine in Internet Explorer. The specific thing that doesn't work for me is the selector box at the top left of the site.

Be sure to check that your site works in both browsers for the maximum audience, and since millions use Firefox now it's also a good idea for that reason too.

The graphic work is also fine, the header image is good and appropriate for setting the mood for thoughts about Ireland. So I guess the first thing for you to sort out is getting the site working in both browsers.

Default Thanks

Thanks Scribbs, I thought I had checked it in Firefox but it seems not thoroughly enough. It seems that using an image as a submit button is the cause of the issue, I will look at this and revise it.

Thanks

D

Also, using Firefox, the clickable area for the upper left search box doesn't land on the > symbol.

Default thanks

Hi TomTom,

I had noticed that, I will fix that at the same time as the other Firefox issue. I think the placement is slightly different in FIrefox than it is in IE.

You're likely not getting many comments because there isn't much to comment on. The design is nice and clean, the colors are good (at least I like dark greens). Mostly the site is "click on your country, get list of pubs."

I think it would be helpful, especially for the rest of the world to have tool-tips or actual country names on your map. Not everyone even knows one country from another in Europe, sorry to say. ;-)

Next, perhaps rather than choose your country, it could be choose the country you want to visit or where you want to find pubs because I first was looking for the US to find the correct translation. In other words, I misunderstood why you wanted me to choose a country.

I'm using Firefox and didn't notice any problems so you may have fixed those already.

On the left-hand side, rather than big empty boxes that say, "advertise here" or space available or whatever, place an ad there yourself, then under it have words to the effect that you can purchase ads. Looks nice than the empty boxes.

Nice site though, and next visit to Europe I'll check for pub ideas.

Kathryn
