Surely, you jest.

I don't like the dark text on a dark background.

Navigation should always be "above the fold" i.e. where you can see it without having to scroll down to the bottom of the page.

I'm pleased to see you didn't charge your friend anything for that.

That's not sarcasm. It's an honest, concise opinion about the value of the site.

I think you need the kind of reality check that most contestants get on American Idol. Don't leave your current day job as you clearly have no talent at this one. You may think that is harsh but at least you should now understand the message.

I presume that America Idol is some sort of reality TV competition but I am not sad enough to enjoy that sort of thing..I wouldnt dream of leaving my day job as I own my own travel company and retire in two years time and am leaving the business to my sons.As for having no talent I dont see where talent comes into the equation ..Yes I do understand the message it tells me about your pesonality .I am now no longer willing to get into an argument so am not going to reply to your comments any more
Bye
Have a good life

Ok, just a few comments for the most annoying posters in WPW.

This guy has quote clearly stated that this is his first outing at development and was looking for some constructive criticism from people in the business.

The stupidity and ignorance of your reply wouldn't anger me so much if it wasn't for the fact that your a serial hate poster.

Seriously, do you spend all day here slagging off people just for trying to expand their skill set?

Well allow me to point out a few things about your little signature development:

1)Just in case you were wondering this is how you use external style sheets:

<LINK href="special.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

2) Very funny reading coming from the source, (your design standards page):

Quote:
The standards for good graphic design for the internet are constantly changing. Just a few years ago, complex, flashy designs with animated graphics and animated menus were all the rage. Now, if you are thinking that an intro page with an animation of one of your products set to music is a good idea, then think again. You will be wasting your money and Activeminds will decline to build it for you because it won't work!
Wait a second I cant really read this text as its in 7pt. Oh hold on ill re size the font to "Largest" setting. Doh, cant do that cause you used absolute font size values, great standards.

Oh, only 12 validation errors here, not bad compared for the rest of the site. Good to see your been slightly more compliant on this page.

3) Are you really so proud of that AJAX conversion tool, seriously how long did that take 15-20 whole mins?

4) Your portfolio is just lovely, please tell me that these were also developments for friends and that you didn't charge any of these poor people a penny for your work.

Now back to jayvee73uk, I have to say that if you are taking on web development for the first time at nearing retirement age then I salute you. Most of the people I know are scared to death of technology, so for this point only I am impressed.

As for your site, please take the advice previously posted and have a look at changing the contrast between your foreground text and back ground. Also there seems to be an awful lot of blank white space around your site, maybe take a look at that.

Goodluck.

P.S. DaveSawers - I now understand your tactics, continually dissuade everyone starting out in web design and you may actually be able to sell your shoddy services.

Thankyou for your backing and your suggestions .I believe that the previous poster who's name and website I have forgotten allready and not through old timers disease but merely through a lack of interest in him or his status..(Theres a saying that bulls**t baffles brains)and as you say he is not entirely flawless and just uses sarcasm to put people off from competing with him (Very Sad)
I have made an attempt to improve my site and now have a lighter background and hopefully improved it as you suggested (Thanks for that)
Peace
John

No problems jayvee73uk, although I would still love for you to do something about that white space at the top and right hand side of your page. I just dont see the point in that one little square of bubbles?

Cheers, Chris.
