I have been asked by my Boss to work on the redesign of our company website..
URL : www.galaxyweblinks.com We have designed a mockup: http://galaxyweblinks.com/mockup.jpg I would like to have your views on the same. . Then I would like to know what is the easiest way to manage it ? Should we integrate that with CMS (Joomla ?) I would also like to have your views on "How should a company website look like?" It would be very helpful if you guys can show me some sample of great existing company websites.. I would also appreciate if you can review our existing site and suggest if we are lacking some subtance in it. Abhi. |

Today, almost any site can look good. And these sites look good. However, a business website has to communicate a unique selling proposition, essentially
"why do business with us and not competitors. Change out the name, and this site could be used by any competitor. What makes a great website has nothing to do with the latest decorative PhotoShop fads. Check out... Jewelboxing The idea is not for the layout to scream "look at me" like a sugared-up four year old. They have a good product and they use the website as a means of communicating information, those points unique to the product and different from competition. Proactiv Solution understands you are not going to buy the product unless you believe it works. Unlike jewel boxes, there is a lot of customer disbelief in this category. Proactiv shows customers and testimonials. For web design it would be case histories. The idea that web sites have to hop on the web design cliche bandwagon is the most dated, worn-out idea of all. To be successful, web sites have to differentiate in more meaningful ways. Great design happens when better ideas beat this weeks' superficial decoration. |

I agree with Dcrux.
A nice design, I look forward to the final layout w/ proper promotion targets and lead-ins to your key ideas. |

I second that what "Dcrux" wrote, and very nice mockup, I guess its way better than older site.
For CMS, Joomla is good if you are familiar with it, and if you are looking for more easier and lightweight cms, have you tried MODx CMS? give it a test run. It has very easy templating with sef urls out of the box which is considered an important factor now a days. |
