Default Home Health Testing

Please review our web site Home Health Testing at http://www.homehealthtesting.com/

We been selling approximately 30 different FDA approved home medical tests on this site for 10+ years. 300 or so key words and phrases have been identified for the various products and $4,000 per month is spent on pay per clicks via Google, Overture and Kanoodle. The various product pages have been optimized for their 5 most popular words and phrases.

The product pages deliver valuable consumer content; not just a product for sale.

We have roughly 20 old sites that have/had decent search engine rankings that we no longer maintain pointing to individual Home Health Testing product pages via 301 redirects.

We are in the middle of an intensive link exchange program to increase our PR from a 4 to a 5+ with some success to date.

From a marketing standpoint, we offer same day shipping if the order is received by 5 p.m. and free Fed Ex Ground shipping within the continental U.S. We bend over backwards to supply our customers with superb customer service.

Any and all constructive criticism is very much welcome. The one thing we cannot afford to do is host our own shopping cart.

You have a solid site there. The content is good, the load time on dial up is ok. If you are planning to re-design (which I am not sure you are) the site there are a number of options. I would attack it in phases.

Phase One:
1. Convert your html styles to css.

Note: Your h1 tag on the first 4 product pages have 3 different style attributes. One is all caps, one appears to be a different font, different sizes and weights. The h1 tag on each page should have the same styles. CSS would easily fix this. You can also better accent some of your sub-headings in the product descriptions.

Phase Two:
1. Redo your navigation with a css rollover effect.
2. Re-order the navigation -- I think your product links should be up top -- your shopping cart and other links below.
3. I would also move the logo from the top of the Navigation over above the content -- that would bring more of your navigation links above the fold.

Phase Three:
1. Convert to XHTML.
2. Replace table layout with css layout.

One thing that I would not do is move your navigation to the left side. Since your site has a PR 4 I would leave it where it is. It works well there, and it will effect how the SE's see your site unless you use css positioning.

The reason I recommend the phases above is because I've done it before with two of my own sites. It is well worth it. Of course what you do is entirely up to you.

Your navigation menu definitely needs to be arranged in a different order; consider using a dropdown or flyout menu structure to take up less real estate on the page (and stay above the page fold). The text on the navigation is very hard to read, the font is much too small for nav text.

The 100% layout is hard to deal with on a widescreen laptop since your body text spans so wide that it's very hard to read from line to line. Set some kind of padding/width for your body text style.

Overall, the look and feel of the site is very outdated - the serif font and huge header tags lend a very dated feel. I would personally be hesitant to order from your company. Savvy online shoppers do take the first impression into consideration, especially when it comes to purchasing.

Home Health Testing is my business; we purchase our home medical tests directly from about 20 different manufacturers. If you are interested in becoming one of our sales affiliates, please go to http://www.homehealthtesting.com/affiliate-signup.htm

Thanks to all who have offered suggestions. In the past we have done a complete site redesign every 5 years. If I hear you correctly, it is time to do another.
