Default your opinions about 9dir.com new design

Hello,
I have just relished the new design for my directory http://www.9dir.com I would really like to read opinions about how easy it is, the colors and many more
The directory doesn’t has iframe, only in the first page where the forum is. (it is a promotion forum and I don’t think it has anything to do with this)

Looking forward for your opinions,

Thanks in advance,

Roy.

Roy,

1. You should the description and keywords meta tags in your page heads.

2. charset=windows-1253 is a bad idea as many people do not use Windows PCs.

3. What is with the blue box around the copyright at the bottom of the homepage?

4. I don't care for the blue water background. And the clouds (at the top of the page) sitting on water look very tacky.

5. Serif-based fonts are never a good choice for menus. Much more difficult to read than sans-serif.

6. The whole iframe usage is UGLY.

I think it needs many improvements. Definitely remove the iframe and get a template for the forum that will include the site functions.

Also, use some better css for the menu and general design of the website. The background is like websites created in 1998. Also fix the search icon. Search on istockphoto for some cool icons.

Get rid of the frames. You will never get this site indexed properly by the search engines. Since this is a directory site having it indexed well by the search engines should be your number one priority.

Two scrollbars in a browser window is one too many. Lose the iframe for your forum, it makes the site feel cramped and confining.

I got this error at the top of your i frame:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in /home/hoteucom/public_html/9dir/forum/includes/template.php(127) : eval()'d code on line 25

I agree with all of the above as far as your design goes.

Many thanks to all of you. Your opinions of redesigning 9dir.com were really helpful. I am almost done; I have to check some html issues (some of them I don’t consider them as errors but I will correct them anyhow) and then when I will have time to recreate some icons.

Thank you davebarnes from your opinion I removed the iframe, I changed the fonts and the background effect (I have a background effect now but it is static)

Thank you akira from your opinion I decided to redesign the icons. Although the icons I made aren’t yet excellent professional work, I hope to make them better by the time.

Thank you melsonez and MarcieZoob the iframes was only in the main page for the forum, the directory didn’t had iframes. Now even forum doesn’t have iframe (Although I must redesign its look to fit the new 9dir design)

Thank you Gordonse (you might visited the site when I was changing something, that’s why you got this error)

Thank you yeros. Well I am trying to do something deferent, I know that when you try to do something deferent you might get something not good, but I believe its worth to try.

Now I have an extra option for images in the featured links and in reciprocals. I also added 9dir Domains Popularity Checker.

Any more opinions are more the welcomed.

Visually it's a mess. The background still clashes. The icons have rough edges and the fonts and graphic fonts are inconsistant. What's the animated gif flag for? We all know where we are...
