Default homepage.ntlworld.com/dancedevils/website/template.html

This page is still being developed. It is only my second ever site.

I am only 15 and have been learning how to make Web pages for about 4 months now.

I had no help making this.

No, Computers never mind Web design does not run in the family.

No CSS hacks have been used, no javascript, no flash and no cookies. Valid CSS.

Flexible XHTML 1.1 (valid) has been used for the Web page.

RDF (also valid) has information about the page.

Comments are welcomed at dancedevils@ntlworld.com

Veiw the template

Erm... yeah okay Lee, right. Yeah people by the way the link is dead, no template there.

Only 15 and only your second site, eh? You've done a great job here, dancedevils!

I can honestly say I've seen sites designed by older folks with more experience who haven't done half as well as you. :)

The page loads pretty quickly for me, but I'm on DSL, so I checked the page weight - 30k including your graphics is a pretty good size. If you want to keep the attention of folks with a dialup connection, you really shouldn't go more than 40k, or you risk losing them because your page could take too long to load. But you've left a fair bit of wiggle-room here for adding your text,s o you should be fine.

Your graphics look pretty good, as do your colors. One suggestion about your mouseover link colors on your main navigation, though. Your images look fine, but you might want to use a different (more intense) color for your text. Gray to white really isn't very noticeable. You're using a pale color to begin with, then you change to a color that's really only a little bit different. Since the links are small to begin with, I'd suggest using a color stands out a little more.

Okay. Last suggestion - try to view your site in a variety of browsers if at all possible. Most of your page looks the same in IE and Mozilla, but the section where you start "As you can see, ... CSS allows this page...." has somewhat different placement in those two browsers. "As you can see" is above the orange line in Mozilla, but below and slightly overlapping it in IE.

It can be really hard to get CSS to view the same way in multiple browsers, so don't be discouraged! It just takes time because different browsers (and browser versions) interpret things in different ways. It's really a pain sometimes, but it can be worth it!

If you're looking for inspiration on what you can do with CSS, take a look at CSS Zen Garden. I'm a really big fan of this site. It shows what can really be accomplished with CSS.

HTH, and good luck!

The reason for the poll is because I was worried that the site loaded slow but then after being told by numerous people, I asumed that it is because I have a slow PC which makes the rendering of the CSS slow.

I have been around and compared this site with my old site and it seems people prefer the old colour scheme better as well as Nike completly ripping off my new colour scheme from what I have seen.

Browser consistancy has been sorted with a couple of CSS hacks. I did not enjoy putting them in but I had no other choice as I tried everything. Thats one reason for the long delay in the post.

Another thing, if anyone has a Mac could you please let me know if it is okay or not because I have no access at all to Macs.

Thanks,
Bon Bon

Default Speed

The loading very fast for me (on a cable connection).
I too like the current orange color scheme.

Good job!

It took ages for the web site to down load.
First thought it looks like a junk mail pop up site.
To much writting or text on it. Some of the links just did not work. Ok i guess for a 15 year old maybe with age comes experience Lee.

Before you start teaching the rest of the world how to build web sites make sure your own is in order.
Your logo is hard to read and says nothing about your business. I can not come close to reading the text.
Black backgrounds with white text is always a bad thing to do most people do not like it.

I went to look at the other pages but there is no way to read you text.
The text looks good in opera but not in Internet Explorer
I guess this being a personal web site your not trying to rank good with the search engines and that is a good think because the way it is set up it will not.
