Default Review treetreasurescanada.com

We completely renovated our site early in 2006 and now find that our Christmas season internet sales are down substantially. The site is treetreasurescanada.com This our tenth year of selling through our web site and our search engine positioning and number of visitors are in line with prior years. Do those of you selling retail, or with retail clients, find that Christmas sales are down? Looking at our site as a (potential) customer, what don't you like? What doesn't work for you and would stop you from ordering? Please don't hesitate to be brutal. Thank you for your time.

No product pictures on the home page, so I didn't feel "excited" to dig in to see what else you had.

...just my opinion

Pete, Thank you. I agree the home page needs pictures. When I said that we renovated our site, I probably should have said that we went with a package sort of deal, hosting, shopping cart system, etc. The system isn't very flexible and I can't seem to put any pictures on the regular pages. They show as broken links. Another reason to rethink our web site format, etc. in January.

Default Site Review

I agree that the home page is pretty 'non-enticing'. You have a nice menu list of products in the left column. How about making 'postage stamp' clickable icons of the different ornaments with their names. That would add a lot of color and interest. Also as an 'old guy' even with my glasses, the font is too small. I can read it OK but don't like to work that hard. a couple of pixels larger would be nice for those of us whose vision is not all it could be.
Otherwise it's a nice site. Just needs a little gingerbread!

Thank you Scott for your comments. I have increased the font sizes. If you have a chance let me know if the text is still annoyingly small. I do like the idea of the clickable icons of the ornaments. I just need to figure out if and how I can do it within the system we're using.

The text looks perfect. I thank you and my eyes thank you.

I don't know for sure because I'm not sure how you're building the site but placing the ornaments with title text below or next to it would allow you to easily use text links to navigate to product pages if you can't figure out how to make the ornaments clickable themselves. But you should be able to do either and/or both in basic HTML with no problem.

Thank you Pete and Scott. You both gave me a much needed push to add photos. I'm scrambling in between orders (we are getting orders, just not the volume we should be getting) to liven things up. I have more to do but it is already a vast improvement.
