Default Site rebuild/relaunch --Review requested--Obscuria.com

Hi,

After a soft launch in January of this year, I have painstakingly rebuilt my ecommerce site onto a new platform.

The goal of this rebuild is to be more customer centric and conversion efficient. Perhaps noteworthy when reviewing the SEO part, is that I had a custom url rewrite done, and the domain is over 7 years old.

I would really appreciate any constructive feedback on elements of the site such as:

*Ease of Use/Accessibility
*SEO
*Potential Conversion Obstacles
*Overall Layout

Thanks,
Jeff

Default Great Point

I like the design and layout - with a few small exceptions. I clicked on the link for stained glass and converted the fantastic price to Aussie dollars ( not so fantastic then ). The currency converter works well ( I need one too ) but even though it appears that I can purchase , in Australia, as can someone in Azerbijan? There was no easy to find shipping info.

We may be a small part of the market but the UK Aus NZ goth scenes are reasonable large and relatively cashed up.

No kidding I am actually insterested in some of the stained glass, however your info was general, on stained glass, great SEO, but I could not find out enough about the specific product as a buyer of stained glass.

Hope this helps.

Yes that helps. Besides the policy page, shipping info is real time weight based, with a clear shipping calc shown after clicking "add to cart"
Perhaps I will look into a way to incorporate the calc into the product page, but not sure how it could pull the weight field that way...

On some of the stained glass items, there is a lot of general info, I can see how you would want more detailed specs, given the cost.
Thanks.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for looking. Based on the reference to MAC OS in your sig. and my stats, I am guessing you pulled up just the homepage and left. I plan on trying several types of layouts, as the homepage is of the utmost importance. If you make it past the homepage, I would love to know if the same "cluttered" feeling prevails in your opinion and why?

And although I strived to make the site cross browser compatible, and viewed best in 1024 x 768, I am guessing you are viewing with a much higher resolution?

Thanks again,
Jeff

Kraven,

My monitor is a 23-inch Apple LCD at 1900x1200. The pixel size is very small.

It is funny, when I wrote "too Goth", I had not even looked at the products offered. I wrote that comment mostly because of the black background with white lettering.

Don't worry about my comments as I am way out of the demographic for your site.

,dave

Default Shipping

Thanks Kraven , I appreciate that shipping is based on real weight and probably wouldn't realistically expect to ship stained glass to Oz, but for other items I would never have got as far as adding to a shopping cart to find out if you ship to Aus/NZ etc.

I have yet to do this on one of my sites, but I am simply going to put flag icons (gifs) of the countries supported by PayPal which I ship to. One of my very non technical solutions as well as having a link to a shipping info page.

That way my customers know , or I would know by entering the home page of your site, at a glance, if it is worth my while to keep on looking at the store. Literally shipping info is the first thing i look at , or for, on a home page.

begabloomers,
Yes you have a point. There is a link at the very top for "Policies", perhaps this should say "Policies/Shipping" or something like that. Yes we ship worldwide for all items(with the exception of some countires like Nigeria, Indoensia. etc).
Some items will dynamically display "This item qualifies for free shipping" with a link for more info.
Perhaps I will put a link to s/h terms directly in the product page display, if you think that may help encourage more "Add to Cart" occurences?
