Default New Halloween Site

Halloween is upon us, so I would like to submit our latest themed based site for review.

Thanks, and all comments welcome.

I never thought the blend of orange and black will look Ok to me.

Nice navigation too but it would be best if you can put that on the right side.

The site looks good to me.

Kudos!

the site looks nice
the images are cool
i like the cat image at the top left
better to change the background color of the google ads so that they blend in the site.
also use a different color for the links

Thanks guys, we appreciate the feedback.

The ads we are experimenting with. Most of our sites run ads that are blended into it. And there does seem to the need to have something on the right side.

Default Can I ask?

Okay, I'm not sure if I'm out of line here, but what exactly is the point of the site?

It simply looks like an ad revenue site.

I don't know. Maybe it's just me.

52 pages. History, facts, safety tips, carving projects, party list, etc. Have a look around. If you have Flash. Additional text menu is on the update list for the site.

And again, we are experimenting with the ads.

Thanks for your input none the less.

Default Okay, but...

I get the whole history thing, but lets take step back and look at this.

#1. How are people going to find it?
#2. The ads stand out so bad, they kill the site.
#3. Depending on the browser, the flash only works okay.
#4. The site is tough to read and follow from a visual standpoint. Images behind text and such.
#5. It took me 5 minutes to figure out why the site was there.
#6. Your claim of being the most imformative halloween site on the web must not have taken halloween.com into the comparison.

I wasn't trying to be an azz about your site, but seriously, what's the point of the site?

Looking at your website in your sig I can see where your point of view comes from.

We have many themed based sites that get 10's of thousands of hits a day and yes they make money from the ads. In case you haven't noticed, we aren't the only ones using Google Adsense.

It's certainly not a spam site.

Once again.. "thanks"

Default Guess that is a good business model then...

I'm not sure how people find you, or how these are relevant, but sure, you asked what people thought. I think it could use help in layout and navigation, and I think it's hard on the eyes.

I don't think it uses layout well to drive traffic. I think it's tough on the eyes to follow navigation.

You posted this to get professionals opinions of the site. Do you really feel this is the best quality you could do with the site? If so, then awesome, but I think you are missing on items that would help you do much more.

Also, if you have so many pages, getting so many visitors, why wouldn't you setup your own ad system and capture a much higher piece of revenue?

Since we are on the topic of each others main page, why in the world would a reputable web firm have Google ads all through it's site so that people visiting your site would have a chance to go to a competitor?

While on your main site, I saw ads for SEO companies, Web Design Companies, Networking Companies and other things, which are all services you provide. Why help your competition?

I just don't get it.

You sound like you are trying to sell me something.

The fact that you don't get it is actually good news. :)

It's all about the traffic generators.. and they do.

Good luck with that SEO thingy, it's a real bear.

Default I understand traffic generation...

Traffic Generation is a duh, giving most of the ad revenue to google, not so bright.

BUt if you think it's a great business model, you do it, I'll enjoy my world, making plenty of profits.

I do have sites that generate traffic, but I built add revenue mangement pieces to manage my own revenue, and hark, i get to keep all that money.

Shocker, how that works.

I guess I just don't have any clue with what I'm doing in life, and you are God with your at best poorly designed web site paying homage to Halloween.

Lets just agree to disagree and I'll let you go back to your fantasy world of award winning halloween sites and your homepage filled with ads for your competition.

Enjoy, have a nice day. Kick your feet up and have a budweiser with your mac.

You just won't go away will you? Stooping to bash someones work. Real professional.

I cash in 4 figures monthly from our programs and "sorry" sites for VERY little work.

Your traffic rating is dismal. Do you even get 300 unique visitors a month? Who's living in a fantasy world?

Go play on someone elses thread please. I've thanked you more than once already.

This thread is too funny!
weslinda must have an axe to grind! LOL
It's a decent site IMO.
People seem to think that if a site doesn't sell anything and has advertising on it then it must be spam or and adsense site... so what if it is? If the site has credible information on it, then why shouldn't someone be able to earn a little green from their work.

Not every webmaster is as talented as weslinda claims to be... lol

I guess I'm going to be the only one but I hate that cat at the top. Not the cat itself, but the changing of colors, mainly the real light golden color "it pulls the eyes away from the page". The ads did not bother me due to they were about the same place on every page until I got to the history page where the placement changed, but still no big deal. Ads have gotten to be common place and I really do not even see them anymore. The other thing I would like to comment on is the nav bar on the left looks squished in on the sides and appear they need to made a little wider. Even the clip art of the house on the top of the bar looked tall and skinny.

Other than that the site looks good and I too would have never tried those colors, but you made them work. Nice job.
