www.villadelphinus.co.uk
Hi everyone
We have purchased a new villa in Cyprus that we will be renting out for holidays. Hopefully this will be the start of a profitable business and growth.
The website address is www.villadelphinus.co.uk
I have been working hard on making the site easy and informative while at the same time trying to keep an eye on key word density and links.
I would very much appreciate any comments that will help me to better the website.
In return, I promise to respond to all and commit to reviewing other websites. This is not a bribe -- Just an appreciation of a really useful service!
Many Thanks
Hooman

Hi Hooman, nice place!!! and it gave me a chuckle when I read the description of the kitchen being "fully fitted out" rather than fully outfitted as we would say around these parts of the globe.
The blue background ....... is to much for me, softer shades, earth tones, something that reflects the environment of the region would be far more attractive.
Beige, browns and greens? pictures of trees and flowers.
Something warmer that stimulates a sense of residence, home, vacation on a hilltop.
This is just my 2¢ hope it's helpful
Good luck!

Hi, Good luck with your venture. You have a well-organized site, but I would like to make some suggestions: the bright blue background is hard on the eyes, and would be much better in a more muted tone, something that would coordinate with the picture. Is that a graphic or a photograph? It looks like a graphic, so if you do have a photograph, it would be more appropriate. In your descriptions, I'd like to see the use of bold text as it is much easier to read. You have good links, and I like the local information. What would be really more enticing, is if you could take some digital photos of the various places on Cyprus that would be of interest, and include a link and page to them on your site, also. One last suggestion: pleae also quote your rates (tariff?) in US dollars, and your temperature in Fahrenheit, too.

Tested in IE6 56k modem 800x600. Loads nice and fast. Nice simple design. Blue background is a bit overpowering - needs more colours perhaps in the menu's. Navigation is good although it might be nice if the links changed colour when the mouse is passed over it. Also might be nice to have photo's of the interior of the villa - perhaps a tour of each room. Otherwise, a good solid design. Good luck with it.

change the blue to a darker one
Maybe use a darker blue and you are pretty much set (but the text will have to be altered to a lighter color) or just change the bground to a way lighter shade. That color is too toxic to the poor eyes. Apart from that your info is well layed out.
I wish you much success.

Thanks
Hi
Thanks for the comments. Nearly everyone has found the background colour to be too harsh so I think I may take your suggestion of more earthy colours.
I have a step brother in USA and when he visited us last year, we spent ages laughing about some of the differences in the language and phrases.
Thanks again.

Feedback
Hi
Thanks a lot for the feedback. All really good points. There is no doubt I need to change the background colour as everyone found it hard on the eyes. I initially chose it to represent the colour of the see but now agree that earthy colours would be better.
The picture of the villa is currently a graphic but I am planning to take some professional pictures when I go there next. Good idea about pictures of the local places. I'll give it a go and see if it is useable with 56k modems.
One question:
You have talked about the use of bold text in the descriptions. Do you mean bold text for the whole page or just the brief description, at the top?
Finally, I would like to also show temperatures in Fahrenheit and currency in dollars. The temperature would be easy enough but the problem I will encounter with the currency will be to keep up with currency fluctuations and updating the site nearly everyday. I am not a web designer but there may be a way of writing a formula that will go and get the latest currency exchange, every day, and update the US dollar value dynamically. If this is possible and not too complicated (for my basic skills!) then I will definitely do it.
Thanks again
Hooman

Re: www.villadelphinus.co.uk
Hi
Thanks for the feedback. Nice to know it loads fast as there is nothing more frustrating than waiting ages for each page.
I like the idea of links highlighting when the mouse is passed over it. I have not a clue of how to do it though!
If it is easy and not too much trouble, I would appreciate any tips in this area.
With regards to the pictures in the house, I thought about creating a virtual tour but I don't know much about the technology so it could be wishful thinking. If it is easy, possible and not too expensive (and does not slow down the website too much) I thought it would be good to allow people to navigate from room to room and see what it is really like.
Again, if anyone knows anything about this technology, then I would appreciate any tips.
Thanks
Hooman

Re: change the blue to a darker one
Hi
Thanks for reviewing this so quickly.
I have opted to go for a much lighter shade, closer to earthy colours.
The original idea behind the blue was to reflect the colour of the sea - But Obviously it didn't work.
I didn't personally notice that it was very harsh, which is why it is great to get feedback. Nearly everyone else has found it too hard on the eyes.
Thanks again.
