Default New site

Hi guys

I've just deployed a new site. It's very basic, nothing fancy, but hopefully it does what it says on the tin and informs the visitor about the stonemasonry services of the company.

I know there are a couple of closing tags and alt tags missing off a few images, and I'll tidy this up shortly, but your opinions would be welcomed.

Regards

Peter

Default Nice work so far...

Hi: I think you have a very clean nice site to start with. But as you mentioned in the post it's just a start. I'd urge you to add more content to each of the pages, perhaps explaining more indepth about what your company offers and why perspective buyers of your service should choose your company instead of the others for every aspect of every page you highlight. I'd also think about reducing the font size. It kinda has that home made appearance, which I don't think will go over to well with the masses these days. Good luck with the site!

Peter,

If I owned this masonry company, I would demand that the copyright notice be mine nad not the developer's.

I would also have the WilsonWebWorks made much smaller.

Mike is correct. More content. Lots more.

Guys

Unfortunately, this is all the content the guy could provide me with. In fact, he gave me less than this, I had to expand on it and, given that I know absolutely nothing about stonemasonry, this wasn't easy. Also, he insisted on some of the images being used, despite the poor quality.

Point taken about the wilsonwebworks logo and copyright.

Default Curious

I was particularly interested in this

"...working on some of the biggest projects and most famous buildings across England."

Any info on this would really help the reader and SEs

Nice and clean site... good use of paragraph
headings (with h1, h2 tags) on the home page.

Samples of their work (jobs they've done) and
customer testimonials would be helpful to
convert website viewers into customers.

Also, adding a contact form in addition to
the email link would be more user friendly.

I agree about the copyright - should be the
client's copyright (assuming they have paid).

Default Stonemasonry site

My 3 cents:

I dislike all logos: Mordean, CSCS and of course, wilsonwebworks (way too big indeed).

Re: navigation
I would improve the hover-color.

And I always vote against scrolling on homepage.

Design wise I think the site is great. Its clean, simple navigation, easy to read and all the relevant information is there and easily found, to give you a good solid web presence.

Again, in terms of SEO you need much more content, perhaps a page about the history of stonemasonry, try to be inventive with the content.

I realise you're a relatively new company, so testimonials may not be available yet, but certainly some photographic examples of your work would be a real benefit to the website, and as a potential client I would want to see that and it could really sell me your service.

Try looking at competitors, or similar types of sites who come high in the SEs for masonry, or simiilar lines of business, and see what content they have. I wouldn't suggest stealing it but it could certainly help inspire you!

good luck, great design well done!

Default I don't get it

Peter,

Why is this site a "Featured Site" in the ezine?

Neither the HTML nor the CSS validate, and, while the site is certainly okay, I don't see anything outstanding about it. It's a very basic site, so why use .asp? It is really needed for something?

Also, why clutter up the content with

when you could use CSS

.line {
border-bottom: 1px dotted grey;
}

I don't mean to be critical, but rather to be helpful.

Phil
