Default DanielleLennon.com Re-Launched

This is version 3 of this site. New additions include CSS, RSS and a general clean up of the graphics and interface. The site is now 99% complete, as I am just awaiting a few more graphics for the left column (it will change each time you go to a new page). In any case there are some known problems.

1. Older versions of IE will not support png's / transparency (which makes the titles look frosted / terrible. Solution look at the site in newest version of IE or get firefox.
2. The photo page (thumbnails) sometimes get unarranged (but I think that can be fixed in the CSS).

Anyway, please let me know what you think...

Wow! This site is awesome. Really I like it!

A few comments.

Reverse text generally doesn't convert as well as black text on a white background. I'm guessing that this site will double as a fan site, so this may be a consideration.

Perhaps keep the fonts and everything else exactly the same, just create a white text space whilst sticking with the gray for everything else. You can round the corners for an extra artistic touch.

My only other comment is on the music page:

http://www.daniellelennon.com/music/music.html

The music heading is the same size as the other headings, which I found a little confusing.

Also no too sure if using a broken tape gives the right message. To me it could mean this music is broken. I think you mean to say classic, perhaps another classic music symbol such as a violin, harp or grand piano etc... could work here.

Otherwise I really have nothing to say. I love this site, it is fantastic!

Regards

I agree with David. The site looks awesome (great picture of you with the fiddle, or should I say violin?), but the music category heading (on the 'music' page) should be separated somehow from the subheadings and text below it. Also agree about the broken tape. Even if it were to mean that there's nothing like live music. Broken=Broken=Bad

All the best

Tom

I found your site artistically excellent. Even the broken tape, I understand what it means, so I would change nothing. the only gripe I have is in the subtitle Music. Life. Passion. on the following link: http://www.daniellelennon.com/index.html = dysfunctional. it should be not there since the visitor already arrived on the page. Otherwise well done website. My congratulations.

A very appealing site visually. I love the fonts and color scheme.

I usually don't like sites with a black background, but you have a shade that works well.

I love the phone box on the contact page and the apple for student login - very smart. Site loads very quickly and works fine on safari on my mac.

Regarding the png problem on the archaic ie browser. There is some solution out there which provides a way for ie to display png's correctly. Allows them to show the alpha channel transparency. The link is here: http://www.alistapart.com/stories/pngopacity/

My BIG problem with your site is that it has made me want to change the look of My site again !

Thanks for all the great feedback, specifically the help on fixing the png issue. I do not think that I will change the backlink to the mainpage, as that page is the only one with a listing of upcoming gigs. As for the comments on the music page, the goal is to get pictures of each group for each page. As for the main music page, the picture will remain as is...I never thought ppl would read so much into a cool looking cassette. The comments regarding the Music title are dead on, and I will be taking action to correct it by making the subtitles a bit smaller perhaps. Will have to see what looks good. In any case, thanks again and keep the feedback coming.
