Default Liked your site

I liked your site... You've used some fresh colours that compliement each other, so its easy on the eye.

There's good use of calls to action. eg. 'get free estimate now'.

You've used a business name that is entirely suited to the internet and easy to remember.

Some suggestions you might like to consider:

- The text on the home page is great for search engines with lots of content. You might like to separate the text out more with headings. Many users will be browsing and its the headings that will focus their time on your site.

- Can you include links to sites that you have developed.

- use a link in the top banner. This could take the user back to the home page.

- You're form, 'get an estimate' could be centered so the tick boxes are arranged in a single column down the page.

- Logo design link didn't work when I tried it.

Hope this helps

Hi Katie,

You've come a long way since the massive grafic that was your home page some months ago. But there is still a way to go.

Whatever people may thing of valid code, a designer's site is a showcase of everything they can do and 35 validation errors on you home page need attention.

Why is the stylsheet in-line? This defeats one of the main advantges of CSS: site-wide rapid changes.

Your 'portfolio' is confusing. If these are not actually websites/ print designs you have made for paying customers, then they are likely to work against you. Also yours are just clickable thumbnails that take one to other clickable thumbnails which take one back to the original thumbnails.

I don't see why 'Resources' are in an iframe (which is too wide), when no other page is. In fact with the horizontal scroll bar coming in at 929 pixels, it is unclear what screen resolution the site is designed for.

The left menus don't fit in FF. The top right-hand box has the right side missing in FF & IE6.

Who is Marty? His comments are pointless is we can't see his site.
Quote:
"We'll do it cheaper, better, and faster than our compeitors!"
Is this a selling point? When I see comments like this, I'm inclined to ask how this is possible. Perhaps you skimp on the spell check?

The logo WoW on your logo design page is unreadable.

Full marks for not using tables, but what kind of code is this:

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

Overall I like the design, though there are too many Flash/Swish .swf animations going on for my taste. And the text has far too many vague and sweeping statements - some of which are contradictory:

Quote:
Unlike other design firms, you won't see a cheesy catch phrase here, or a commercial slogan.
Every page contains such phrases and slogans!

Thanks Paul.

Sorry to have things like spelling errors in there! I have been so swamped with clients that I haven't had a lot of time to put into the site - I made this site in one day... It does have a way to go, but I just wanted to get the general opinion of it!

Thanks for your time!

As was said, you've come a long way.

I find the copy on the homepage a little long-winded. too much to read. Visitors'll likely just want to get to the point, so make it a bit more consise.

That's from your mission page. After reading that, i found about 4 or 5 little slogans and catch-phrases on that page alone! Practice what you preach!!

Other than that, it's fairly attractive. IMHO, i'd ditch the arial for the menu, and use verdana...much more attractive when it's bolded like that.

hope that helps!

Hi Katie,

Ditto to what has been said already.
I have to say though, that most of the site, aside from the header, is pretty washed out and bland.
You need to infuse a bit more color and definition within your web pages, in order to make it a better eye-pleasing experience.

I have always felt that hosting affiliate links are a bit on the cheesy side.
Consider picking up a reseller account and make it a part of your offerings, even bundle it with your other services. You can expect an increase in revenue doing it this way

Very well done nice site (the good news...)
What I did not like was the flash animation in the middle.that is also well done, good but I find it very distracting when trying to read all the text and
decide where to click next( I did not) no good for a dial up user looking for somebody to design the site they dont have yet slows things down. good luck.

Nice site and marketing message.

My first reaction was there is a lot of text to read.
You might think about adding paragraph heading with
a topic summary (a few words) so people can scan the
page and get your main points.

In FireFox your menu items and links on the left
don't line up with the background graphic.

For your website portfolio, it would be nice to have
links to the actual website... to see it in action.

Yeah, there's a lot of text, which is good for the SEs, but it might be better to see more design work - how about a more design-oriented magazine-like layout?

I only say this from my own failings as a designer and being more of a writer these days. Text is always more appealing when bite-sized & complemented with supporting images.

HTH :)

My thoughts. I really really love the Banner. It's a brilliant way of expressing your USP.

A few suggestions.

I would definately break up the long text with small subheadings, in bold.

I would keep all the text black. The text on the left is in grey.

You text on the bottom left menu seems to overrun it's box.

Keep your hyperlinks in STD blue or create a free estimate button at the bottom of the page.

Maybe just stick with 3 columns. The crossing columns confuses the eye and makes things look too busy.

Justify your text.

Create a Flash walkthrough video where you use Multimedia to tell your customers what you can do. Visit the following site for some ideas:

http://www.offermatica.com/

Note their layout and click on the demo videos to get an idea of what I mean.

Though one comment, I think it's better to stick with the single goal long copy concept. I've found it works better having done comparative tests in the past.

Hope this helps ;-)

David,

Thank you so very much for your helpful advice! May I ask what "single goal long copy concept" means?

Thanks again!

Hi Katie

Nice attractive colours.

One thing I did notice: on Mozilla browser, the bottom link on your navigation 'Contact Us' (ask us a question) just comes off the bottom of the navigation oblong that you've allocated.

Also the bold quote: "We'll do it cheaper, better, and faster than our compeitors!" First of all, the obvious typo of c-o-m-p-e-t-i-t-o-r-s. Second have you researched local competitors in your area to know that this bold statement is true? I hope so otherwise you, via your prospective customers will find out very quickly if that is the case.

HTH

I like your site a lot! I think that the theme will appeal to women more than to men. Not saying that this is bad :).

A couple of comments:
On the home page, in the first paragraph, the hyperlinks are in grey. It makes them a little hard to see, and I'm not sure that people will know that they can click on those terms.

I wouldn't use the word "cheap", on the mission page. Cost-effective, reasonably priced, or something, but nobody wants cheap ;).
