Default site review

Hi everyone.
I would like you to review this new site. It is a ppc search engine designed to help fund worldwide charities. Try doing a search for "pay per click" and use the dummy account for users , username: garvit , password: 123456 . I would appreciate some feedback as this is my first attempt at a site and possibly the last based on how long it took me!!!
Thanks.

PS. There are still 1 or 2 small typos and the "why join" page needs work.

Hi there, you need to look at your site in Internet Explorer. It is misaligned. The box with this in it:
Help your favorite charity just by using our search engine. Everytime you use our search engine we will contribute money to your favorite local or global charity. Make a difference!
comes up on top of the logo. The text that moves up the screen at the start has disappeared. This seems strange. There are white vertical lines all over the place in the purple framework.

I am slightly disturbed by your front page.

I like the frame and the layout, plenty of white space, good colours.

The popup asking me (no insisting) that I sign up is a bit annoying. Why not just have a default charity that I can help. I can't at this stage see what benefit there would be to log in.

Your site does not do advanced searches (phrases within parenthesis). it is not of much use to me since that is the only way to get search results below 1,000.

Your search engine is fast enough and pleasant to use. Without advanced features tho it may not get much use.

Thanks newzeal for your comments... Did you login at all with the username and pass supplied , try the search n save , user history, and all the other features within the userhome. Also did u see the comment feature on mouse over at the end of a search result line? Most importantly, can you explain to me "phrases within parenthesis", Thank you.

Hi Merv,

I do my searches using IE advanced search bar. When I enter one of my key phrases, 'passing phase music' my site comes up number one out of several million. If I put double parenthesis around the entire phrase then it looks only for sites with the entire phrase as a keyword, in which case I get only two items, both mine. This is an 'advanced' feature, the same as google advanced.

Doing the same in your search engine, I do not get my site (alas) and the search results are the same each time. Therefore you only have very limited search capability.

I signed in to your site. it is very functional and pleasant to use. I would have been happier if I'd got my site up number one on the list for the given key phrase.

Later:

I've been playing round in your search engine a bit. I did find some references to passing phase music on the second page, but many of these were allmixed up and they led to forums with posts all tangled in amongst each other. It's not very coherent. No sign of my home page tho.

For me the popup - asking me to sign up was my cue to leave.
