Hi,
I have an established site and have worked hard to keep it 'clean' looking. My question is: Should I continue to use javascript for my navbar or go html? I use javascript to create uniformity throughout the site but someone said that some browsers don't display javascript etc. the site is: http://www.allpurposesoftware.com Yes its very white, but its for budgeting so I wanted to appear professional and clean. I think I did an ok job for a complete hack at website design. I don't use flash or anything. Anyone out there with advice on javascript vs html? cheers Pauline. |

Hello Pauline,
I generally like the look of the site. As far as menu... I'm not seeing any mouse-over effects at all so if you're using some JS, it's not doing much for me. CSS menus are the way to go. So many things can be done. I seem to be always recommending this site. IT'S NOT MINE. I think you'll find some nice options. http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/index.html It's also not to hard to use php for all common areas like heading and menus and just change the content for your text body. By combining these together, you can have a site that loads fast and you can easy modify the whole site by changing one "common" page. Something to consider. I do like the "White". :) Drummin |

thanks Drummin,
I'm teaching myself css, php and xhtml at the moment but I just can't get my head around css. I think its because every page on my site is different (eg different fonts, colors etc) and its so new to me as well. I'll get there. Thanks for being so kind and providing the feedback. I appreciate it. I'll take a look at the site you recommended and work on it from there. So much more I'd like advice on but at the end of the day, its a learning curve. JS for menu (uniformity) but I'm leaning towards static html. I guess I could spruce it up with mouseovers etc. A complete re design of the site is looming I fear!! Much appreciated Drummin. cheers Pauline. |
