Default New Classifieds Ad Site

Hi Everyone –

We are in the process of launching a new classifieds site and business directory called Zacity.com – “Everything in your city from Z to A.”

The classifieds section is live and the business directory is right around the corner. We have a handful of things to do from an optimization standpoint, but I would like to get some feedback on design and workflow.

If any of you are Denver, Los Angeles or New York please feel free to sign up for an account or post an ad. Even if you don’t live in those areas I’m sure a lot of you offer services remotely.

Ads are 100% free. Post as many as you want in 100’s of categories.

Thanks for taking the time to look. Any and all feedback is much appreciated.

I've seen so many of these kinds of sites - I even started one myself about 6 years ago and gave up when the domain renewal came round.

To succeed you need massive traffic and you will only get massive traffic if there are 1000s of ads in there - and you will only get these two prerequisits with a substantial advertisng budget. And then you will make money - how?

Also "Everything in your city" is far too broad. You need a niche...

I agree with the statement above, as well as with pavelhlavsa's answer, but would like to add that it would probably be a good idea to ditch any category referring to "adult" sites.

No reputable webmaster and their site(s) would want to be associated with this sort of thing.

It may also place your own site into a not so desirable category with the major search engines. I am sure that is not your intention :)

I really like the idea, and the layout is pretty sweet as well. I think the logo needs a bit more tweaking as the colors don't jive. In this respect, I think you should avoid the frosty feel and go with something a bit more stark. This should be applied to all the colors you have going on. Getting back to the footer, I would love to see a random image generated that used the incorporated the logo in everything from a-z (ie put it in a hot dog bun, belt buckle, etc...) Additionally, I think it would be a good idea to add a footer gif to add a horizontal line, similar to the one you have at the top.
