Default Please review Burf.com before I change it!

Hello all

Now I look at my site everyday and I am thinking of changing it, its supposed to be fast loading, clean and directed at people searching.

Is it time to change this site?

Thanks

Nope! If you mean to change the look alone. Why change what is good? Just because you are bored of the look? To me the site looks perfect with everything in the right place, simple and easy to the eye. If there is anything to be done to improve the features, then go right ahead, otherwise I feel there is no need to just change the look.

Anyway, just curious, how long has it had this look?

Default Here is some help for you...

1. Layout is blah at best. Needs color to divide sections.

2. Search works poorly, no speed to the results, and top 6 listings are irrelevant ads, not marked as ads.

3. Work on the engine, before you paint the car.

Burf.com has looked like this for probably a year

To answer the other questions
The speed should be ok now as it has caching, no more than 2 ads can be shown at the top so I dont no what happened with 6 displaying

I might change the outline box colours to give it a little colour

Default Update

Almost 60 seconds to load results for a random search that I did.

If you're going to do ads, mark them as such, do not make them appear as natural results. It's poor in taste.

Perhaps doing some research on how to visually move people on your page will help you on the layout and feel side of the fence.

Default Connection Info

I was on a corporate network, with high speed access. I am in the states, but I couldn't imagine that would be a big issue.

If I was you, I'd try and put together a network of 4-5 people, in different regions of the world, to help you with testing of your server. They could help you test across browsers, connection types and locations to give you complete feedback on your site, and that may help you build a better engine. Then you can paint it pretty colors.
