Hi All,

I am a member and have sort of done this site as a freeby.

Its from a template, that I have tweeked, does it look OK and more importantly, any suggestions on how to speed the load time. It is image and JavaScript heavy. Although I have tried to otimise the images as much as possible without losing to much ... can anything be done to optimise the JavaScript.

(CSS would be better I know, but I need to work at other stuff to pay the bills)

Your help and advice would be most appreciated.

Keimos

They should be very happy with something that was done for free.

The Flash at the top is slow and annoying. What does it do that a simple image can't? - other than appear blank on about 5% of screens?

The site expands (fluid layout) but the text doesn't, which looks OK at 800 pixels res. but lost at 1000+.

I'd recommned removing the Club's email address from the site and making a contact form, unless they particularly like spam.

The JS menus don't do anything more than that which a CSS menu effect would. Frankly how much loading time you'd save changing to CSS means it's probably not worth it.

Hi Paul B,

thanks for your views.

Is the Flash that annoying?

What would you suggest for the text, as that is deliberate?

CSS , totally agreed but it is a freebie and I really do not have the time to do it.

Thanks , will look when the time is there and play with your suggestions.

Keimos.

Q. Is that you Mr Biring?

Page looks good at first glance. Does take a bit long to load on a dial-up. The Flash does not annoy me at least but I do agree that the simple effects do not justify the use of Flash. Without Flash the page would also load faster.

I also agree about the text not expanding with the page. Also on a 1000+ resolution the margin on the left between the menu and text does seem too big. One suggestion would be to increase font size and make the text expandable.

Good use of maps on the contact page, but as Paul said, a form would be better in more ways than one.
All in all a very good job for a freebie.

Hi crush123,
LOL, come and have a game.

www.pengolf.co.uk

As I have said before I need the time and hopefully will try to adjust some things. (need to work as well and am normally brain dead by the time I get to this)

I have optimised the graphics, the flash , to me is not that intrusive, annoying as load up but acceptable, so I have been told.

As to the suggestion of a proper Form, agreed will do that. Re email address, that is via JS so should not be cawled?

Will try and do stuff that has been suggested. Thanks

Keimos
