First I must say, "Interesting idea!"

OK, now on to the review. The design elements are nice, but need some adjustment.

1) Your header image is 1012 X 237 pixels. While this serves the 1024 resolution market, you are hindering the viewing ability of the 800X600 market. By reducing this file to 760 pixels in width, you will be taking care of that issue.

2) While the blueprints in the background are a nice element, they are too dark for the text. You should consider trying one of 3 things:
1) Enlarge the font size
2) Make the text bold so it overpowers the background
3) lighten the background so you can just see it.

3) While you have a navigation that leads you down the page, the shear magnitude of content will send most people away. Your best bet is to actually break the content into separate pages. Make your initial point on the main page, something that makes me want to read more. Then put the other stuff on separate pages. Bite size is better than trying to eat the whole pizza at once.

You have a great start, keep working at it.

Best of luck.

kolohog,

ghstdrgns makes a lot of the same points I'd make--breaking up the one long page into five or six smaller pages, draw your users into your world.

And that graphic on top is too big; crop the center part, the logo and stick it in a table that's 100% wide--that'll give you the effect I think you were trying for and it'll load about five times as fast.

And I'd move those amazing graphics, the concept drawings, closer to the top--they're one of the best selling parts of the site.

The content, by the way is terrific--this from a man who has gone on his last roller coaster ride some time ago, with no regrets...

Default takes too long to load

I agree with the previous mentioned points,

Header image much too large. 86,000 bytes is ridicules. Make it smaller, and by all means lower the resolution. Same thing for the other images.

The page requires too much reading and should be broken up.

Make your links more defined, maybe larger font. You should also include the links on the feedback and links pages.

Use black instead of charcoal for your text. It will stand out more and probably be easier to read against the background. You might also want to lower the background opacity so it is not so dark?
