i uploaded this site with materials provided by an acquaintance... she has made this site, rather large in my opinion and with an unclear menu structure.

I have several questions on how to improve it... or where to start.

as the site's in dutch i'll try to tell what it's about briefly.

This woman is a musician. She teaches (shows pictures of various groups of her students), she also performs in several groups and does some management/promotion for some of them.

First question: isn't the scope of here site too wide? ergo shouldn't she have several sites, or at least sub-sites?

and if not, the menu defenitly could use improvement... any ideas for structure and design?
please disregard the ugly banners. she can upload modified files to a proper server later.

menu should stand out a bit more.. also it would be nice if the color would change when you hover over a link.. another thing I have noticed is the order of the items on the menu change from page to page.... make the site confusing

i defenitely agree about the order, it should be the same. but don't you think there may be too many options as well?

I think she'll be reluctant to give up the colors (she seems to have given it a lot of thought) although i do agree the colors of the menu don't stand off that well.

Hard to say unless I really understand the page contents.

The menu should be made more distinct. Maybe encapsulate it in a fieldset. Also I do agree with the suggestion of some kind of rollover effect for the links.

the color of text on site and the background color makes it almost difficult to read anything.
especially the navigation is too difficult to read.
