Default Please review my car dealer site

Daewoo of Lithia Springs

Hi, I work for a car dealership handling their internet advertising and website and I recently completed a full overhaul of the site. I would be grateful for any feedback or constructive critism. Thanks.

Default Car Dealer

Well constructed site. Very clear and easy to navigate with just a touch of flash to set the tone.

Obvious attention to detail:
  • Valid XHTML Strict
    No broken links
    Valid CSS

I'm not fond of the pinkish background and rollovers. I think a more powerful color would give the site more contrast and make the content areas "pop"

If you are set on the color, I would recommend making the font color on the rollovers darker so they are more readable.

The inventory list is easy to scan and find the car you are interested in. I am not a fan of the pop up images though. Maybe you could load those inside the frame of thumbnails to keep the visitor focused on the product. I think you could brand the individual car pages with your header and layout.

Alternatively, consider a script from http://www.curve2.com/autoboss.php It has an easy admin interface, search capability and an impressive overall presentation.

Again nice job. That is all that I could find for my .02.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you have any suggestions as far as color goes? Thanks for the Autoboss link, I'm going to have to look into all the features available with that and see if it fits into the requirements layed out by the lots owner. I've never really liked the pop-up pictures either but that setup was insisted on so I just have to figure how best to make it work. Again, thanks for the review.

I changed up the color scheme. Blues and greys always seem to work so I went in that direction.

Default Nice Change!

Those colors are much better. The navigation reads easier as well! You could set the initial navigation color a little darker to set it off.

Maybe drop down the size of the footer as well. It draws too much attention.

I was a little confused about the brand as it says Daewoo of Lithia Springs and the domain is West Fork Motors. The header image then shows a BMW.

I would recommend the addition of an actual logo to brand the dealership (perhaps with the West Fork Brand). Your image would be stronger and you could carry the branding across cards, signs, letterhead, etc.

Default As a customer...

I wouldn't touch your Financing form as a prospective customer; with the information requested and the form is not a secure form, no way would I enter any information.

On the contact page, I would make the email address an active link for submitting an email.

Overall, a nice site with easy navigation. I'm not a fan of the blue/gray, but didn't see the "pinkish". IMO the current color is dull put-you-to-sleep...but you have to please your client!

Good luck, nice job.

Default Daewoo

I'm confused by the name. You are Daewoo of ... but you dont have any Daewoo's (its a car brand from Korea). Wouldn't it be better to call yourself something else or include some Daewoo text, cars, etc

I assume the function of this page has a lot to do with letting people see the cars you currently have, right? If that is the case I would suggest pushing the "About" link further down to bring more attention to the Inventory link. Maybe even make the flash changing front page images be links to your actual inventory (you could still use stock footage - just link to your inventory of that car). To do that the flash animation may have to include a price or year or model name to make it clear that it is a link.

The name thing is a long story, basically Westfork Motors was (and still is, technically) an independent dealership selling luxury cars for years and then became a Daewoo dealer right before they went bankrupt in the US. Since they have held on to the Daewoo contract and still make money off of servicing Daewoo's, they have to keep the name and display it.

It's an odd little thing to have to workaround.

In all it is a little drab and dull for the products you are selling. The site is technially excellent, but stiff and lacks enthusiasm.

The Daewoo business is just downright confusing and is going to confuse every potential customer who comes to the site. For the cost of another domain name - or even a sub domain - you could pull all the Daewoo references out of the current site.

The thumbnails and images of vehicles for sale are good - but why lose the rest of the site template and naivgation? And how does one get back? (Other than the browser back button) and new browser window would be better at least...

Nice work on the valid code and css.

I like the site layout except the financing page. There is the issue of a secure login that needs to be address but how about breaking it up in to mulitple steps, that long form seems overwhelming. You might get better conversions by breaking it up and having a step one, two, three, etc all on subsequent pages.

I think the top banner image is cool but I think the text could look better that is overwriting the background image. IMO, I have found it difficult to match a text header and a background image to the div and make it look as good as a simple logo with the same content created in Photoshop of Fireworks.

Anyway, this site is a pretty good looking and works well. Good luck.

Okay, not a bad site, but I don't find it "interesting" in the least.

First, the menus to select pages are slowloading at times. When scrolling over them, it can take a little before the change takes place. I'm not a fan of that, seems like the site isn't flowing smoothly.

Second, I do not like the fact that the inventory page starts with all of the inventory on one page. If someone was on dialup, god forbid, this page would take a while to load. Also, you might want to add a text link box that lets them select a specific type of make. I'd start that page with your "top ten" cars, and then subsequent pages beneath. Then allow them to put all vehicles on one page with a link for "all" or something along those lines.

Third, the actual car page I do not care for at all. It doesn't flow for me, and the images/thumbs take a bit to load, even over a high speed connection. I would work on trying to incorporate this into the look and layout of the site, and try and find a cleaner layout of this page. On that makes the actual text / car info stand out, since that is what most people are looking for.

Fourth, the financing page, ouch. Kill the form, make it a general inquiry form, and then let them fill something out that's deeper down the road. Make this page an introduction on how you handle financing, and how you can help finance people. The form is simply too daunting for someone randomly visiting the site.

I really think the site is a clean design, but when you design a site like this, you've got to perceive it from the customers point of view, make it interesting, and in depth, and information, and easy to use. People need easy to use.

Hope this helps.
